Re: Harbinger: Renegade #5 Discussion
I have to agree with Grendel. Dysart did several deaths in HW and DoaR that were both graphic and emotionally impactful. Roberts is no Dysart. This issue had action, it had excitement, but for me, it was junk food. Empty calories. Darick Robertson's art bothered me in the first arc. So much over act...

Re: Unity: A casually negative pre-mortem
I've held the idea for awhile that Kindt creates great, detailed stories, he just doesn't let us know what they are. I'm reasonably sure he has all the details and history in his head, but he holds back information from his readers. Maybe he just assumes we'll get that information between the lines....

Also now we know Roku is not Angelina Do we know that? No. No we don't. There's still room for her to be alive. Maybe her death was staged by MI-6? Maybe it was a real hit, but her body was spirited away by the shadow 7 afterwards? Darque is a necromancer after all, and Roku's story last week read ...

War Monger's dad reminded me of the spirit of the wild from that one panel in Eternal Warrior. I liked that the "wizard" used science he claimed was magic and the woman used magic she claimed was science. It wasn't bad a'tall, I thought. The cursing was distracting, though. I kept stopping...

Is it possible that the Vine Hive mind evolved from the armors? In theory, the armors tap into parts of all of their hosts brains. Aric can speak Vine without Shanhara attached to him (I am not sure about entering commune). According to the Vine High Priest "Shanhara guided us. It taught us to...

Re: Consistency. Stability.
Wait a minute, that arc ended with Bloodshot being given a syringe full of something, that if used supposedly would of reset the nanites and given him his memories to boot. It was left up in the air if he had actually used it. No, that was the arc after that. (The arc I was talking about was "...

Also, Loam is located in the Alpha Centauri system? I'm surprised they didn't mention this earlier, they're a lot closer than I initially thought.( Yeah, I thought Alpha Centauri was a little too close to home to be harboring a starfaring race. We're starting to get a good look at what's actually t...

Re: Consistency. Stability.
Since the topic of inconsistencies has come up, I thought I'd throw this out there, since I've wondered about it and this is as good a place to bring it up as any. In the first story arc of Bloodshot and HARD Corps, Kozol tosses BS a set of dogtags related to his old identity, and promises to give h...

Re: Ninjak #1 Discussion
The Roku fight sequence was well staged. I liked the shooting of the clip bit. I thought the fight was a little muddy, myself, particularly the belt clip bit. How did Ninjak defend himself from it? He was taking out his sword, the clip explodes, he puts his sword back. I'm guessing he used his swor...

Eternal warrior, running around with an axe, sword, and hood like he's back in Sherwood forest... is getting old, and makes little sense. I guess his distaste for technology from 4001 started a very long time ago. It makes him seem like far more of a barbarian displaced in time than Aric... Why doe...

i'm more interested in gen zero than unity. +1. Kids with superpowers raised as living weapons I can understand. Assassins dressed in purple ninja suits and passing up guns in favor of esoteric weapons confuse me. also i would be interested in less "hard light." seems like there's a lot o...

Hey I just thought of something- Where is that Little Castle Isiah kid with the glasses and the force field? Or what about the picnic family kid? Or the eye ball popping kid? :? Little Castle was last seen knocking Manic off the Bellagio, sending the PRS gunship falling on top of them. Kris said th...

So I guess Ninjak has super ninja healing powers or something? Gilad and Ninjak were both in pretty bad shape at the end of last issue, but in this issue, which seems to take place very shortly after the last, they were back in action without a mention of their horrific injuries. Gilad can heal. Wha...

One thing I'm curious about is Josiah's plan to free Jack from the loa. The ending could be "we didn't see what we thought we saw", and Jack "killing" Josiah was just part of that plan. Shadowman is probably my least favorite Valiant book, but I'm not feeling all the hate 90% of ...

Duffy Boudreau wrote one of the stories in Shadowman 12, the tattoo artist one. I got taken in by the story. I didn't like what it was doing to Bloodshot's character, and felt relieved when Kozol turned out to be the a-hole he always was. (Unless he isn't. See, now I'm half expecting more story twis...

Not sure why the cover has Morrison dressed like a Navy Admiral. You would think more like a (lizard) king. Perhaps it's another nod to the father/son theme? Morrison's father was Rear Admiral George Morrison. Nergal was a glint in the eye of as not yet hired Greg Pak when those books rolled out. T...

I don't think they've written themselves into a corner. Archer isn't all-powerful. While it wouldn't be interesting to me as a reader to have a character who can easily and quickly adapt superpowers for any situation, having someone with no control/no innate ability to properly harness that power w...

Plus, Capshaw's comments to Aric about any Russian and Chinese salvage crews would seem to suggest that America hasn't sent any salvage crews yet which is odd. Capshaw said pretty much the same thing in issue 15. "Who's up there today? The Russians, Chinese, or both? By the time NASA gets our ...

Re: XO Manowar #23 Discussion
too generic comic-booky. Are you seriously complaining that this comic book is too "comic-booky"? Too generic comic-booky, yes. The Marvel and DC universes are replete with "aliens" that are just a different shade of human, with very little to set them apart from terrestrial civ...

This wasn't what I was expecting. Pixierosa floated a theory that the Monk was behind things like Livewire's (first) betrayal of Harada and the vision of Joe that lead Pete away from the Foundation. I liked that theory so much that I want to see it in print, and thought this special was the perfect ...

Re: XO Manowar #23 Discussion
I'm kind of mixed on this one. The V-Ent universe is expanding, and in the process, seems to be becoming more generic. I liked the Vine; they seemed alien enough to me. This new guy in the half-X-O armor? Seems rather run-of-the-mill "alien", where he's basically just a human with a lumpy ...

Re: Bloodshot and HARDCorps #20 discussion
From the "next volume" page at the end of the last Bloodshot trade, the next trade will skip Mission Improbable. It contain "Get Some" and the arc after MI. About # 20, I generally like Tom Raney, but the art looked a little weird, especially Armstrong. His proportions seemed a b...
