So I rolled the dice and submitted about 60 books to CBCS. Scored some 9.8 Solar #1 and 9.6 Psi-Lord Gold, 9.8 Ninjak Gold, but totally whiffed on a Solar #10 (9.4).

Most interestingly, however, was the two Harbinger #1's that I submitted, both came back with an asterisk (9.0* and 9.4*). They ...

Could be a good score. :clap: When you get it take a good look at it. If it looks like a 9.8 resub to CBCS. Other wise leave as is unless you cant stand having a PGX case. Normally a graded 9.6 can be had $80-120 + ship. If 9.6 hits $200 than it would be worth resub to CBCS.

I avoid them like the plague. Not hating on others preferences, but I'd rather have a lower grade than a restored book.

I agree a 100% with this, especially low grade oldies that still look okay - if the book's complete, then it's a great placeholder. Case in point, this weekend at a monthly show ...

Hmmm....just received my SMotA #10 (1st) - 9.6 and Visitor vs. Valiant Universe #1 ($2.50 variant) - 9.4.

...and now I have to look for waves in the books.....darn......the #10 looks clean.....but what should I look for with the VvsVU?

Are the "waves" noticeable? The slabs look good.

FYI - for the future - I have classic early 90s Valiant - some signed (some multiple times), some gold issues, most 9.0+.

CGC 9.9 X-O Manowar 1? That must have been graded recently.

Whoops! That's a 2012 copy that got mixed in with the 1992 counts.

Here's a revised list of CGC 9.9 or higher Valiant books, with the "relative scarcity on the census" (1-out-of-100, etc.)

(total is the total of CGC 9.9 + CGC 10 ...

I think these obscure Acclaim books get pulled from the board affect more than anything else. The Pre-unities market prices probably wouldn't be affected much, if at all; these rare acclaim items most people wouldn't know ...
