Hard to say... depends on how many people see an auction.
I'd guess $75 to $175.

Nope. I got one of these a few years ago.
This one is expensive, but it's the real thing.

Someone paid $51 last week for the "other one": http://www.ebay.com/itm/360448503552" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Nope, that's me...this is a beat-up copy, so there's no way I'm hitting that BIN...

I sold one in rough shape on eBay about a year ago. It seemed that two guys wanted it pretty bad so it got bid up to $100. The winner was a member here.

If I really wanted one I guess I would offer about $35-40 in this grade not $80 that's crazy price.

Yeah I think my offer is the best he'll get, and I think it's more than I usually would pay considering it's the lat of two books I need. It's just so beat up, the $80 really is wishful thinking, but you never know on ebay, right? If someone wants the BIN, all power to them, I don't base my valuations on other buyers.

I bought mine end of last year. I'd guess it was VF. Was happy to pay $80.

This bad boy is something I have been working on for almost 10 years getting various signatures from that time.

It a VF+ copy since it's been handled so much... :P

Image

With the signatures I think I could get $100+ for it...but it's not for sale.

$100 is a low estimate. I'm guessing $200-$250

Yup, that's what I offered, and I thought it was generous to be honest with you! To pay $80 for something that is super beat up (VG-) for a modern (acclaim book) is too much, for me anyway.

I think more and more people are realizing just how hard it is to find some of these rarer Acclaim books and condition seems to take a back seat. Just finding a copy in any condition can be quite a task.

That was my find about a year ago.

I looked for a while, then settled for some fine and a few in very fine on a few of these.

I found one in a dollar bin last year and it was pretty beat up. It had a big crease in it so I didn't get it. I had no clue that they were hard to find. I went back the next day to get it and as usual, it was long gone! If I can find and buy a Predator/Magnus tpb for $2.50 then I'm sure I'll run across another stand alone.

I told myself that VERY thing and it was 10 years before I found another one.

I'm still shocked this did sell for $80 giving it's condition.

If I hadn't gotten one before, I would have spent $80 for it.

No question.

I think these obscure Acclaim books get pulled from the board affect more than anything else. The Pre-unities market prices probably wouldn't be affected much, if at all; these rare acclaim items most people wouldn't know about (without this board) are certainly more of a novelty, and get a lot more attention from the completists. Same could be said for things like the turok claw, voyeurs, ect....very cool and stupidly rare items, but command big money because of the 'he's got it, i want it' affect. I'm partially guilty of this as well, if they're weren't a thread on newsstands, I wouldn't put any effort into finding them :)

Hi everyone - new to the site, but wanted to share a story on this HTF book.

I've collected on and off for years - and managed to get some of the earlier 90s book, including the ACVH stand alone. To be honest, this book must've been either a retailer give away or a SDCC exclusive. Because, I found my copy mixed in with some other ash cans and promo sheets and cards about a couple of months ago. Surprised the heck out of me, that not only is it a rare find, but also, the book had to be in 9.4+ condition.

So I submitted it for grading thru CGC. This is the part I'm excited about - what kind of grade will it end up with.

Based upon all the blogs I've read over the past month or so on this book, I'm thinking, like all the early Acclaim books, this one will pick up even more speed than other similar Valiant/Acclaim books with the low print runs.

Cheers and good hunting!

Z

WHEW-WHEW! Received my book bakc from CGC - and....drum roll please....

:bump: :bump: :bump:

"9.6" YEAH TEAM!!

Since I believe I need an external wedsite to post pics, and I don't have one, is there any other way to just add a pic?

Oh yeah - and this is a bit off-topic, but I'm telling everyone!!

A week ago Saturday at a local garage sale, I managed to pick up 32 Silver Age (some late GA) books - and included were three that are notable:

a. Amazing Spider-Man #2 - visible grade 1.5-2.0
b. Green Lantern #40 - visible grade 2.0-2.5
c. Dell Giant Mickey Mouse Almanac (1957) - visible grade 2.0-3.0
d. Gold Key Huckleberry Hound #18 (Chuckleberry Tales) - visible grade 3.0-4.0
- all first printing

....all for a quarter each!!

:D  :thumb:

Cheer to all!
