Two things -

Looks like there's an X in the dark area on the dino's neck. This is usually used by a penciller to tell the inker to black that area in. Not something that would be necessary on a lightbox reproduction.

i thought it was much less then that...but i've been wrong before.

$400 a page isn't really THAT insane for one of the biggest books of the decade. If that included the cover, it'd be gone.

Thanks! You're right - it was the VALIANT Vision issue of Solar. I was a huge fan of Joe Q as an artist in the early 90s ...

I'll guess $600. The reason I ask is because the full splash from that issue is available right now. I was thinking about picking it up, but it ain't cheap.

Joe Q's pencils were very light. He definitely had a light hand during that era. I remember looking at some of them and being concerned that they'd fade before they were inked! (that the graphite would just disappear from normal handling) Fortunatley, they didn't.

When penciling a cover or page most artist skip filling in the art with black and just write in BWS. Every inker know what that means and VOILA!!!

Thanks guys! I paid $600 for it, so it wasn't an absolute steal (even though I found it in a really random place). I guess it's tough to get a cheap cover from a big name, even if it is Valiant

I'm really happy with the piece and will be getting it framed shortly.

I finally managed to pick up an awesome Valiant cover - Joe Quesada's Solar 29 (the Valiant Vision issue). I actually think it's the best Solar cover that Joe did. I just happened to find it mixed in with a bunch of bronze age Marvel art at a dealer table this weekend in Philly.
