3 grand is definitely not a bad price including the cover...

I stared at the original ad for many hours so I remember -

SonicDan was selling it for the owner, who seems to be the seller in this auction.

The asking price was approx. $16000

Yeah, I just REALLY wanted that cover, so I kept doing different calculations to figure out how much I'd have to sell the interior pages off for to get the cover at a reasonable price. There was really no way to do it.

Hopefully this auction's reserve is somewhere in the realm of reality, but I doubt it.

Yep. And the guy is a real flake. I won many auctions off of him a few years ago. He keep telling me about all the "great" Valiant artwork he had and was selling. I said great! Send me a list and I would be happy to buy some. He would send me a scan every once and a while. I asked for prices and he would say make an offer. I would make an offer and he would never reply. Very poor communication.

Didn't he use to go by a different ebay handle or have 2 or 3? I believe I've also done business with him. Took over a month to get the pieces each time & no response to emails?

If it is the same guy, the last time I purchased from him a payment was overdue on my part (thought I had sent the payment, checked my email records & it had not gone through) & he backed out of the auction. I believe it was my 3rd or 4th purchase from him & every other time he had taken over a month to send the pieces to me.

Nice auction! What do you guys think it will go for/is worth?

I might have worded the title a bit differently.

I'd love to get my hands on the first few pages if anyone around here wins and wants to recoup back some of the final price...

Well, I tried. I'm guessing the reserve was probably close to the CAF asking price.

Yeah you gave it a very good shot. Thats a lot of moolah. It just makes it so difficult when they try and sell the whole book together sometimes.

That has to be the single most expensive post-unity book going, no?

Can't think of another one that would garner half the price.

Maybe some of the Deathmate books would bring more but probably not any single Valiant-only book.
The cover is classic. There are a few decent interior pages but added all together I can't seeing it being worth anything near what the price was on CAF. It's just not the right time to try and move the book. It hasn't been a good time the last few years to try and move most Valiant art. Some guys that have sold may not want to wait around forever to see if these characters ever get popular again. I know Pete has got alot more invested in that book than the bid went up to. But most times when you buy something at the peak of the hype there is nowhere to go but down.

Seeing original VALIANT art always really makes me wish the books had been hand lettered...

regardless, this is a badass thing to have!

it's back up on Ebay...I'd be interested in going in on the book with other people and split the book up. Email me if anybody's interested! Joey

$4,494.94 opening bid and no reserve this time... :hm:

I think it has a good chance of exchanging hands this time around.

He relisted it with your high bid as the starting price.
