OK lets get this straight once and for all.

In IC 7 Superboy gets imprisoned.

The big 3 take a holiday for 52 weeks.

What is the mystery then surrounding the number "52"? Is there still a mystery. I mean, we know what happened to Superman he lost his powers. Batman etc..

So more or less, what everyone is telling me is that no one knows why the GL Blue guys say that?

Was the GL storyline supposed to imply that GL was out in space battling the manhunters for a whole year?

God this is why I don't read DC, between their discontinuity and constant Crisis I'd have a hard time getting into it... it's like a research project.

It's not over - there wil be 52 issues of it - it's not even halfway done.

The entire concept of 52 was to tell a huge storyline that didn't involve the Trinity directly (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman) that refelcted the new post crisis world - in doing so DC has reinvigorated it's entire line, eliminating some characters, bringing others back, and introducing brand new characters and its being done by a team of writers who are among the best creators in comics (Geoff Johns, Mark Waid, Grant Morrison). I just think it's a great jump on point for new readers, and a great time for veteran fans to see some of old favorite come back - and more fleshed out, and taking a role that's more important in the DC Universe.

The occurences that happen during 52 fill in the gap that occured before all the titles's OYL storylines (One Year Later).
Totally agree with every word you said Jay.

But my question is, is there suppose to be some secret about 52 not yet revealed -- as in: is its some kind of phenomenon that affects the DCU time events etc. And what are the odds on favourites at the moment as to what that secret it.

Because it seems like what you said above and nothing more. A story about a world without supes bats and ww -- the fill in between IC and OYL (as well as reinvigorating characters etc).

The only real mystery I can think of is "Who is Supernova" and the odds on favourite for that would be Booster Gold coming back from the future. :D

Jay Tomio wrote:Well the mystery is inherent in the OYL (One Year Later) storylines. When the main regualr titles went into OYL mold it thrust the reader into and different world (a post-Crisis World) and just hit the groud running. In realitt is was a method to retool aspects and for indvidual creators to make additions and removals (or simily explore creative avenues) that would not have been possible pre-Crisis. 52 solves (or will solve) what lead up to or what will lead us up the world and changes OYL shows.

There are literally dozens of things that that occur in this time frame that change the landscape of the DC Universe but wil (should be explained)

A new Catwoman, A New Aquaman, Green Arrow, a new Batgirl, is a mayor, Donna becomes Wonder Woman, Diana works at the Department of Metahuman Affairs, a new Flash, - tons more.

The mystery of 52 itself is the backdrop behind it all - the phenomenon/non-phenomenon that we lead up to as we read all the individual strands.
Although some new things they've done have been great -- like the JLA relaunch. I haven't been inspired to pick up the new WONDER WOMAN or FLASH. Anybody read them? any good?

New Flash is ok. I'm not really into it as much as I was Johns's run on the last book, but it's still not awful. I'm not happy at all with how DC obliterated Bart Allen's character by aging him and turning him into somebody else overnight. Still, I'm willing to give it a few months and see what happens.

I'm loving Wonder Woman (and I never thought I'd say that). It's almost like DC is restoring so much of the Silver Age WW that Crisis wiped out. Donna's WW for now, sure. Diana's working for the Metahuman Affair office - her name? Diana Prince. She's wearing an updated version of the white jumpsuit from the "new" WW of the 70's, and we find out she's spent time learning from I-Ching. And what happens when she needs to change to WW? She starts spinning, like in the 70's TV show.

The story's got me interested, and the art is beautiful. Only downside is that it's bimonthly.

Anyone catch the last issue of 52?

It reminds me of a certain issue of H.A.R.D. Corps - and I mean that in a GOOD way.

BI-monthly? that sucks. I'm going to pick up the first few issues at my lcs and see what its like but bi-monthly really does suck.

Yeah. DC just made the announcement. Apparently the creative team isn't quick enough to keep it on a monthly schedule. At least they addressed the problem now, rather than just delaying issue after issue after issue.

Thats true. Its even worse when comic companies drag on and on with the shipping and never just say "ok, ultimate hulk wolverine will now be a bi-annual event".

But we are getting really forgiving as comic fans. Didn't comics (the best selling titles anyway) used to run bi-weekly in the summer?

So, the last issue of 52 contained what I am considering to be a very strong H.A.R.D. Corps reference... and the next issue has a front cover with the indicia "Magnus: Robot Hunted" on the cover.

Is DC becoming Valiant-lite? :D

More than that, you couls say the entire issue was a tribute to Valiant comics. I've just posted a review on my site about all the Valiant references. It's incredible. I mean, I didn't even see the Hard Corps reference! Wait until you see what I've found about Harbinger!

Cheers

I'd seen an interview where they said that the reason Lobo and the others are disappearing for a while is because 52 takes place in real time. DC didn't want them to just blink up somewhere two or three days after they left. Right now they're just traveling.

I just read Green Lantern 14, and it had a 52 storyline it, apparently the Guardians have a secret that pertains to 52. They are hiding some knowledge about a certain sector that the Manhunters are residing in, and they think the Cyborg Superman (hank henshaw) will discover it.

Did any one else read this and what is your take on it?

Aside from that I have to say that DC is putting out some quality right now. JLA and Batman were also good reads today.

Just read GL 15, and the Guardians picked up Cyborg Superman's skull (hank henshaw) to ask him what he knows about 52. The mystery continues...

Another 52 mystery was solved in Flash 6 when it explains how and why Bart became the new Flash.
