Pleasant trend for a quality book.

Saga is a good illustration of why I read comics, serial fantasy with a real voice that might be too risky to do in another visual media (see also: Prophet).

Thanks for the responses, I've asked the guy in question for some good digital photos and list of exactly what he has.

You never know, might be another couple of gems.

Will keep you all informed.

I've really enjoyed Batman & Robin, and if nothing else from this era 'sticks' Damian Wayne is a great addition to the mythos.

And I can confirm that the Greg Rucka/JH Williams Batwoman arc in Detective comics was superb (and the tpb is about as good looking a book as you could ever buy).

Thanks for the comments.

Sorry to bump this but does anyone have any idea about the UK price 'stamps' affecting value?

Are they just considered as like other 'mark' on the cover?

Tales of Suspense #39 (c - Uk Edition) found in the trash.

I'm a long time lurker but rarely post on the forums here but I was wondering if anybody with comic trading/pricing experience could kindly offer a bit of advice.

I was at a house warming party last night when I mentioned comics to the host (a guy I've met once before, my girlfriend works with his ...

Batman is the way he is because it makes for compelling stories.

This has been proven for 70 years.

One of the reasons they're compelling is because he wins when the odds are stacked impossibly against him, and in a world occupied by gods and monsters he holds his own.

This is cool.

The ...

Why does Batman remain "basically" a ninja?

Because it's cool.

There have been dozen's of instances where he has 'suited up', flown a UFO and used a variety of hardcore sci-fi contraptions but the tech-mode doesn't stick because, I think, the heart of Batman's appeal lies in the fact he's ...

Wildstorm imprint to end

After taking the comics scene by storm nearly 20 years ago, the WildStorm Universe titles will end this December. In this soft marketplace, these characters need a break to regroup and redefine what made them once unique and cutting edge. While these will be the final issues published under the ...

A recently posted article about the economics of comic book publishing has been doing the rounds .

I'm a Marvel, probably, though I read far more DC than I used to (and a ton of indies).

I think Marvel's legacy is still built on it's 60's creations, which were a reaction to DC's older product.

Marvel is perhaps slightly more grounded, slightly more relevant. But it's a matter of degrees. I ...

He lives in a fairly modest house in Northampton (an average, and certainly not rich bit of the UK) as it goes.

I'm against any prequels/sequels to Watchmen (I believe some of it's longevity can be attributed to the fact ...

Diggle is great.

He wrote for and is an ex editor of British anthology comic 2000AD, he's done a great run on Hellblazer, his Vertigo title: The Losers is being filmed this summer (and is ace).

Strikes me as a great choice for DD.

The Smith run upset a lot of longer term DD fans, myself included, for killing off Karen Page and Mysterio (really) for zero narrative gain in a particularly pointless plot.

If I could remove one arc from any continuity, I'd pick Smith's Guardian Devil story.

David Mack, after Smith, was so so ...

I have a love hate relationship with Brubaker's run on DD, on the one hand he always does great, noirish superhero stories and Lark's art is superb.

On the other hand, he hit the reset button pretty quickly and undid a lot of Bendis' run (the first run since Miller that changed the character in a ...

I've been similarly appalled by Crossed but I'm sticking with it (if I can keep stomaching it), because it's the most genuine 'horror comic' i've ever seen.

With 'the Crossed' Ennis appears to have set himself the task of creating the vilest creatures in horror history, and he may have succeeded ...

In order to get the most out of the DCU at the moment I would suggest a small bit of reading up.

To start you need to get Crisis on Infinite Earths. This introduces you to some of the major players and gives you a bit of background on how the DCU got how it is.

Then read Identity Crisis followed ...

Bristol's the better con, but I really just used both to see friends from around the country, drink too much and pick up cheap tpb's.
