Re: Q's regarding Harbinger #0 (1992)

All the blue trades were incentive variants - you had to order a lot of regular trades to get one. STAR was an ordering system for retailers only. Diamond only took orders solely from retailers, which is why I became a "fake" one while I was in college, with an online-only "storefront" (USENET at th...

Re: Q's regarding Harbinger #0 (1992)

At the time TPB's were ordered through the Diamond STAR system. Which was different than for comics. It was meant for items that could always be kept in print. You could order from STAR through previews, I think. And my best recollection is that you were actually told on the order form and in the bl...

I think the glow dust on the cover would make this impossible to fully press. Maybe spot press.

Re: Was everyone sleeping on this?

Greg has posited in the past that when it comes to Acclaim, a 9.6 is like a VH1 9.8 because there were so fewer of them and they were in general treated with less care over the years. He posited this very far in the past, not sure the numbers over time have backed him up across the board, across the...

That's Karma, baby. It makes me happy.

Re: What happened to the reasonable slab prices on eBay?

Hey I do what I can! But I'm not selling individual slabs for $15. I would rather use them for TV dinner trays or target practice. My bottom has historically been $45 shipped on eBay and ~$35 shipped off-eBay, but I have lowered that by about $10 recently. Really things are weak enough that I am afr...

I was holding off commenting here but since it came up, I too have problems with Displate and IP. I"m not sure why big outfits like Blizzard and many others do business with them. Actually, I take that back. I know exactly why. $$. The low trickle of bootlegged items that come out of Displate are no...

Re: CGC case question

My opinion on this is that the inner well is all that really matters in the choice. You want the well that looks like what they are currently turning out. After that I would opt for the new style slab. This is assuming that you can't look at both books carefully and make a call. Just to put some oth...

Re: Best Way to Ship Multiple CGC Books

You can get about 3-4 books into the 1092, and then put that in the 1095. The medium FRB is thicker and you can get 5-6 in there, but it's not long enough and needs to be double boxed, but the USPS does not make anything that it will fit inside. So if you double box it, it isn't flat rate any more. ...

Re: Priority Mail got more expensive

The trick is to stay below 2 pounds, and you can stay under the medium flat rate price. I use the old 1092 inside the 1095 trick. The new slabs are heavier so it gets pretty close to 2 pounds. I wont use the medium FRBs becuase they are too short, IMO. So at 3 pounds you are stuck. Over 3 you have t...

I am planning to go see it Thursday night. I am really looking forward to seeing Valiant on the big screen. I am worried that it won’t do well though. There isn’t much hype around the movie and the kung flu will probably keep some people away as well. I hope I am wrong though. You aren't watching E...

Some of Shooter's stories for those books were inspired... One day I'm probably going to start a Zelda collection. Were any of the inspired stories you mention Zelda stories? Which issues were your favorite? My best advice here is to pick up the hardcover or the oversized TPBs to get a sense of wha...

Re: First Valiant Comic Sells for $2,300

JJ is not wrong, but it happened way early. While it must have seriously slowed their work on VH1, it also allowed the company to exist! If the investors pull out because they cannot wait 12 months to see cash flow, Voyager never gets off the ground. They creators saw it as sucking bigtime, I'm sure...

Puzzles me why Turok’s first Valiant appearance is a key? It’s not the characters first actual appearance and the character is no longer in the Valiant U? wonder if it's nostalgia sales. Many people recognize that it's not the first true appearance, but to them it might be. It was one of the hottes...
