I was wondering that too (guess we'll find out for sure in next issue of Unity). However, I'm not entirely sure on that, mainly because they tend to keep the books largely self-contained. While Unity makes an appearance in this book, I'd honestly be kind of surprised if it's mentioned at all in the Unity ongoing, for instance. Could go either way, I suppose.
The prison pod that Livewire builds looks very much like the pod she loads into GIN-GR in Unity #17. I could see where this battle would give them emotional toils but in Unity, there was also evidence of a fierce physical battle. So perhaps in the next issue, having been freed by Ninjak's mental training (and yes the Bleeding Monk immediately sprang to mind when I read that line), we'll see how Divinity fares in a physical contest.

But wait, does that mean that Divinity made it into Nelville's Mysterious Package?! :o :lol:

I still stand by what I said in issue #2 that Unity was unnecessarily shoe-horned in. If the series wasn't a painful re-interpretation of everything that was wrong with the original Secret Weapons, I'd read it. But it isn't, so I don't

Perhaps I'm forgetting something from last issue, but how did we transition from "giving them what they desire most deeply" (which seemed to incapacitate Unity members) to a moment where he disconnects them from time and sends them into some mental journey that lasts many months?

I might be wrong, but I believe he's giving people these fantastic things based upon their intentions with him.
Unity intended to capture/control and he did not give them "one wish" the way he gave those who were simply fascinated/curious/desperate.

This issue was cool and all but it makes me go "How the hell are they gonna wrap this up next issue?" especially since it seems not a whole lot has even happened.

I would agree. This needs more panels. The introduction to his backstory is interesting but there's not really much that's happened on Earth.

Plotwise, having Unity in it has been a mistake. A mindless attack over two issues that has barely moved... imagine if all that space had been dedicated to Divinity's story.

:thumb: couldn't agree with both statements more.

I think Divinity as a concept is great and fills a void in the Valiant U. Personally, I'd like to this Divinity continue beyond #4 and evolve into an ongoing. There is so much backstory and future plot line that could be explored/expanded.

Since this was originally supposed to be an arc of Unity, it makes sense why they are involved. I think they could have been edited out though.

Didn't know that, but it does make perfect sense :thumb:

Personally, I don't mind Unity being in it (it puts Divinity's powers on display and in perspective). But it's like JMatt said, if there had been more panels to these books you could easily have crammed in more story on top of the action. I think it's the general "decompression" in addition to Kind-T's writing style, I find much of his work has this style of meandering for a bit to make the reader unsure of where the story is heading and then finishing fast with a shocking end to set up a new arc or series.

That's not a criticism (necessarily), because I've loved his work so far and some of it might be due to editorial decisions. But what I will criticize is that, when read in single issues, Kind-T's works (full arcs and single issues) all seem more "transitional" rather than being a complete story. I suppose that's a sort of hallmark for books that are "written for the trade", which means I should probably reread issues 1-3 in one sitting before moving onto #4 next month.

Edit: Also, what was with the first issue and the mountain climbing dude (good old whatshisface)? Have we even seen him since?

David. I don't think we've seen him since issue #1.

David Baron's color art in this issue was magnificent--he really outdid himself at page 3, with the first panoramic view of the cosmic consciousness.

Good point... it was like a more awe-inspiring "backstage of reality" from pre-Unity Solar. :)

I forgot to mention this in my original post but, I couldn't agree more, the colors really stood out.

I totally missed clues to the other two passenger that other readers picked up from issue 2. I think they should have been shown sooner, since they seem to be just dropped in here, but that is a minor quibble.

The comment above about this originally being a Unity arc make a lot of sense. I agree with the concern that the prominence of Unity compromises how the story is being told.

Visually interesting, and certainly some big ideas at play, but I think Kindt has a lot to do in the final issue.

We are all wondering how Kindt's gonna wrap things up in #4, and where that might lead to, so I asked...

So, we get new info, same day the mini wraps.. Can't Wait!!!

Also, Dinesh, posted this pic in regards to what's to come for Divinity...

https://mobile.twitter.com/dinesh_s/sta ... 26/photo/1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Any guesses, on where they might be going with that pic?

Damn, I didn't make that connection until reading your post.

I dig the story and the science fiction, but I feel like we need answers about a lot of things that have been kind of just thrown up in the air. We will see, I dig it so far, but I would like to see it move forward to a more satisfying conclusion.

I am not sure it would take THAT long from what we have seen! :P

There are certainly some big ideas on show, as well as immense capability, which will make the future story-telling on VEI earth interesting when big events occur.

At first glance yea, but it's not holding the usual torch. It's holding the hammer and sickle, from the Soviet Union Flag, which is derived from the Russian Revolution, and an International symbol of the communist movement. So, maybe Divinity, plans to spread those ideals, worldwide. I know, *SQUEE* guess but, nothing else to go by at the moment, lol

Now if that were enacted as a story, it could be very interesting given how difficult he would be to stop. :)

Wait a minute... are you saying the guy named "Divinity" is actually a black foreigner who has come to spread communism across the world by taking power in the U.S.A. like some kind of anti-christ? :hm:

Abram = Abrama = Obrama = Obama :o :o :o

Now where's that Conspiracy Thread?!? :kidaround:
