Re: Spider-Gwen Fever
Stopped at Ed's shop on the way home. Had about 10-12 copies on the shelf around 5 pm. Wanted to buy two but they limited it to one. Had my brother pick up another copy at his shop for me.

There was one in my bag, I put it back on the shelf. Seems like a fad.

Re: Spider-Gwen Fever
Just remembered that DCBS put a free copy of some Spider-man book in with one of my orders. I didn't pay much attention to it (other than checking my invoice to make sure they didn't mispick it in place of something I ordered) but I just checked and it was Edge of Spider-verse #2!!!!
Off to eBay!!!!
They also sent a copy of Spider-verse Team-Up #2

Oh it is the problem is that the vast majority fueling this isn't aware of that cact just yet. Give it a year and see if it's still standing post Secret War when marvel is focusing on going forward.jmatt wrote:There was one in my bag, I put it back on the shelf. Seems like a fad.

I hope it lasts at least 3 months... I have 4 Midtown variant covers coming (JSC drawn, two each colour and B&W) and will get them CGCd, fast track) and want to make some $$$!

It's been going on for a while already.
It was a $30 book during Halloween.

I meant S-G #1...
Snow is gonna mess up this Southern town, I am going back to the shop in Chapel Hill tomorrow to see if they have any #1s left, and to get some Skottie Young variants & blanks.

Re: Spider-Gwen Fever
I chose to not buy 1 of these at the place I was at today.
There will be a few big dealers that will have TONS of these books, so not much action available for me on this book at shows.

I only hope I am wrong for your sake.
The market is plenty big for me to not have everything.
Also if it does get real hot, I can always find some down the road.
I was able to get ASM #4 for cover long after it was "hot".
I did get a few Silk#1s.

Totally a fad. No substance to this one.
If you have the opportunity to sell it right now for $30, do it. The hype is just never going to get higher, and people are going to question the ridiculously high praise in a month or two.

Possibly, but if it is not quality and people turn in it I think she has at least a few months before hat happens. This has been going on for 5 months already.CaptnAmerca wrote:Totally a fad. No substance to this one.

You're probably right, but I think if you are speculating, the price is at or near peak. Sell, Mortimer, sell!Elveen wrote:Possibly, but if it is not quality and people turn in it I think she has at least a few months before hat happens. Re: Spider-Gwen Fever
Two Spider-Gwen #1 auctions I'm currently keying on. The top one shows wantedcomix has just raided their price to 4.95, matching thecargohold's 4.99 price. The second one is a seller who has over 280 copies available at 3.99 each. That second one should start making sales again soon, and will have to for this book to move up much.

Re: Spider-Gwen Fever
I bought a lot of 10 NM copies off eBay for $32.99 with free shipping.

Even though it has a large print run, at $3.29 per issue, I think Spider Gwen 1 is worth the pick up. I even jumped on the bandwagon and picked up a CGC 9.8 of EOSV 2 (1st printing) for a little over $200. Her first appearance will certainly reach it's peak and stall sooner than later but I think Marvel will keep Gwen Stacy in the limelight. She was killed off in the early 70's and remained important to Spider-Man fans until the Ultimate series brought her back in the 00's. My guess is she will have far more potential than Silk.

Re: Spider-Gwen Fever
Given the demand for Spider-Gwen 1, it seems weird to me Spider-Girl 1 seemed to have only moderate demand.

Re: Spider-Gwen Fever
I got my Midtown variants with the J. Scott Campbell cover (2 colour, 2 B&W) today! Unfortunately, one of each would not pass 9.8 muster. Does anyone think 9.6s of these would be worth getting graded by the CGC?
*EDIT* - I have listed these two as a set, along with a regular cover & one of the 10"x13" double-sided posters of Silk & SG, on eBay for $99.99 BIN w/ Best Offer. I don't think I will get that for them, but I have seen prices all over the place for the Midtown variants so I am hoping to get close.

Re: Spider-Gwen Fever
I may be in the minority on this one but I don't think any modern book should be sent to CGC unless it looks like a 9.8. Most of the time I don't even risk sending them to CGC for fear of catching the graders on a bad day and coming back with a hard judged 9.6. If it is a book I want, I am willing to roll the dice and pay the market price for a 9.8.slym2none wrote:I got my Midtown variants with the J. Scott Campbell cover (2 colour, 2 B&W) today! Re: Spider-Gwen Fever
Tell me about it - I sent in two Sabrina Midtown variants, looked exactly the same, but one is now in a 9.6 holder for some reason while the other is 9.8, like they both should be.
Unfortunately, those books are not hot at all, JSC cover be damned. I totally lost on that sub, at a time when I really can't afford to.

At NYC's Midtown, there're still a lot of Gwens at the Grand Central shop. Limit 1 variant each per customer. Plenty of Silk 1s, too.
