Re: Valiant Comic Database
I know this is probably not on your radar at all, but after you get it released and polished (it looks awesome already!), do you think it would be possible to make it a scrapable database (like TVDB.com; comicvine; etc.)?
The information in the Comic Vine database (which is where I scrape all of my metadata for my digital comics for sorting in my reader ComicRack) is pretty sparse for VEI. I've been meaning to update their files, but it seems you've already done much of this work already.
Comic Rack info: http://comicrack.cyolito.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Comic Vine scraper info: https://code.google.com/p/comic-vine-scraper/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'm sure it's not a small undertaking (I don't even know where you'd begin), so it's just a long shot that you might be able to develop something out of your database.
Awesome work!

Re: Valiant Comic Database
I do plan on creating an API to allow third party access to the information but not at the moment. I'll take a look at both links and see how feasible it would be with the code as it stands.lorddunlow wrote:I know this is probably not on your radar at all, but after you get it released and polished (it looks awesome already!), do you think it would be possible to make it a scrapable database (like TVDB.com; comicvine; etc.)?

Re: Valiant Comic Database
There is also this program (http://code.google.com/p/comictagger/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) which does not require Comic Rack (and therefore would require less work on your part) that accesses the Comic Vine API. Maybe you could work with them to make your API work. I realize this may be a long way off, but the idea makes me very happy.ValiantCentral wrote:I do plan on creating an API to allow third party access to the information but not at the moment. Re: Valiant Comic Database
Looks great.
I would recommend being able to select each cover on this screen and submit once.
Maybe via radio buttons above or below each picture.
check the box for the covers you have and submit.

ValiantCentral wrote:Thanks, everyone! I just added the ability to view variant covers when viewing a regular edition...still not sure about the styling, and still not sure if I'll do the same when viewing variants but just wanted to share.
I do plan on including inkers and colorist in the future, it was just a matter getting 821 different books entered in and having an initial release out.
As for the "add a batch of books" suggestion...explain a little more what you mean. The export to excel only works for user collections (and wishlists when that gets implemented). You want to be able to choose what books to export?

Re: Valiant Comic Database
Great idea x-omatic, i'll get on that this weeknd. I've been working on getting all the book info up to date and squashing bugs so the collection feature has taken a backburner.

It's the only thing that is good about the north (midwest more accurately). We have Krystal here in the south, but it ain't the same.ilzuccone wrote:In-n-out (animal style with well done fries). Re: Valiant Comic Database
I had a couple of free minutes today and whipped this up...will probably be in the next code update in a few weeks. This is using very outdated Comicvine data so final will have current info.
