Valiant Comic Database
UPDATED: 01/15/15
Ok folks, I opened it up to the Facebook fan groups this morning, and I wanted to share here, you can now use this thing. There's tons of things being worked on right now including market values, wish lists, creator profiles, collection stats, etc, but it's just me developing this thing so all in due time. I would say the next feature update will be in a week or two. BUT, all the books I could find are in there (913 and counting) so feel free to browse around.
Valiant Comic Database
_____
So I know there is an existing inventory system here already so I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes, but I've been working on my own system over the past 2 weeks and getting ready to release. Here's a little video of what I have so far. This is VEI only right now, we'll see in the future.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQ8zKyWA1F8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uThwNg1gBE
Features
1. 820 different covers, current until March 2015 solicits
2. All covers including con variants, one dollar debuts, and a couple of unreleased covers (thanks Ben for the help there)
3. Collection feature so you know...you can start a collection
4. Mobile-enabled for when you're on the go
5. Export to Excel functionality for those of you that still want to use a spreadsheet
6. Full text universal search. You can search for titles, creative team, issue number, release date, etc.
Coming soon
1. A wishlist feature for books you don't own but want to get
2. Offline mode...maybe
3. Collection stats
4. More...still working that out lol
I'll probably release this soon

Re: Valiant Comic Database
awesome dude. looks great!
i would think about throwing in (or giving the option to include) the inker and colorist when exporting to excel.
also the ability to add a batch of books

Re: Valiant Comic Database
Thanks, everyone! I just added the ability to view variant covers when viewing a regular edition...still not sure about the styling, and still not sure if I'll do the same when viewing variants but just wanted to share.

I do plan on including inkers and colorist in the future, it was just a matter getting 821 different books entered in and having an initial release out.
As for the "add a batch of books" suggestion...explain a little more what you mean. The export to excel only works for user collections (and wishlists when that gets implemented). You want to be able to choose what books to export?

ah sorry i meant instead of adding one book at a time to your collection being able to add a batch. comicbookdb has this feature and it comes in handy. prob not terribly necessary when you're only dealing with VEI.ValiantCentral wrote:Thanks, everyone! Got it, very doable yeah. I'll put it in the list for the 2.0 release, good suggestion.ilzuccone wrote:ah sorry i meant instead of adding one book at a time to your collection being able to add a batch. comicbookdb has this feature and it comes in handy. prob not terribly necessary when you're only dealing with VEI.ValiantCentral wrote:Thanks, everyone! Thanks, yes, coded it all from scratch. There are 10 people testing it out right now, I'll probably open it to another 10 after Christmas, then let everyone access it by the first week of the new year.AaronofDacia wrote:Wow! One suggestion I just thought of is to have a section to add a note or to indicate where it is stored for ex.
Recently I was trying to hunt down which box had a comic in it. To be able to add a note or location in a database would have made it easy knowing it was in shortbox 2. Just a quick thought.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

Totally with you on that, and it is definitely coming. Version 2 will have lots of improvements to user profiles, book sharing, wishlists, owner notes, storage location, etc.nscc wrote:Awesome, I can't wait to check it out.ValiantCentral wrote:Thanks, yes, coded it all from scratch. Re: Valiant Comic Database
Updated! Now books can be added to collection from the list view and single book view, added previous/next book links on single book view, books can now be removed from inside the collection view, added a couple missing books (one dollar debuts, delinquents baltimore comic con, etc), and finally got around to putting in all the trades (up to x-o volume 8 tpb). Total book count is at 875 (sheesh Valiant!).
I did send a couple new invites out, more to come soon.
