Re: Rai #1 Sells out!
That is great news!
Sorry to say I couldn't get get hold of a copy here in the eastern part of Holland.
My shop is 18 miles away and doesn't carry Valiant automatically...
Wish I could travel like Rai to a comic book store in America...
Anyway, hope this keeps up!

Don't know how far you are from Amsterdam but Henk had some Valiant titles when I was there on vacation in December.floriss wrote:That is great news!

I didn't realize that Harbinger #22 sold out also.
I'm sure the print run was a lot smaller than Rai .. but .. wow .. great news for Valiant.
and I love the 2nd printing cover for Rai!

Or, like many other VF members from Europe and Australia do, subscribe with us and get a monthly shipment from a store that supports Valiant more than mostfloriss wrote:That is great news!

That second printing cover is actually an image taken from the INTERIOR of Rai #1. I am not joking. That's how damn good the art is.

Wait, now that I look at the image, the gunman has a mechanical arm. Then Rai guts him, he connects two wires (which we never see) and there's an explosion.
Is that Raddie a PT? Or some other kind of robot?

PT = positronics...android-like automatons.Shade wrote:PT meaning?jmatt wrote:Wait, now that I look at the image, the gunman has a mechanical arm. Then Rai guts him, he connects two wires (which we never see) and there's an explosion.

Yes, these are the artificial companions with the blue circle on the forehead that are given to each citizen so as to keep the population numbers down. Sex and companionship without procreation.BugsySig wrote:PT = positronics...android-like automatons.
And for completeness, "positronic" is a termed coined by Isaac Asimov to describe the artificial brains of the robots that inhabit his titles. You'll note they also refer offhandedly to the three rules of robotics:
1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2) A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

He could be artificial or PTjmatt wrote:Wait, now that I look at the image, the gunman has a mechanical arm. Then Rai guts him, he connects two wires (which we never see) and there's an explosion.

but I don't think that's a mechanical arm - Its the same design/fabric as the rest of his shirt. Rai cuts open the shirt and his abdomen which looks like flesh. Which might not necessarily mean he is human - PT's might have flesh and bleed like humans.

Re: Rai #1 Sells out!
And arguing against myself, Rai might have been able to sense he could control him if he were a robot, much as he stated Spylocke must be human because he couldn't sense robotics.bygranddesign wrote:He could be artificial or PTjmatt wrote:Wait, now that I look at the image, the gunman has a mechanical arm. But how cool would it be to have the Magnus / Freewill theme running through the new Rai?

Re: Rai #1 Sells out!
I kinda figure that's what the whole Raddie movement is about.jmatt wrote:But how cool would it be to have the Magnus / Freewill theme running through the new Rai?![]()
If you find that sort of theme interesting, try Alex & Ada from Image.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.
