:o

Oh man, that sucks. So sorry to hear that happened. I can only imagine the heartbreak of earning a gold issue and then having that happen to it. Hope you can get it straightened out (in all meanings of the phrase)! :hope:

Just found the complain tab for the USPS. Interestingly, it wasn't under "received mail".

This doesn't help the OP, but this mailbox changed my life between bent packages and stolen mail:
http://www.amazon.com/Architectural-Mai ... ed+mailbox" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I also have a plastic bucket next to my front door for packages. A necessity for being a collector in rainy Seattle. USPS, UPS and FedEx have all been great about 99% of the time now. When accidents happen, it's now usually do to insufficient packing.

What do you think? It isn't their responsibility at all to send another one, and I don't think VEI should have to.
It doesn't matter if they stamp "Do Not Bend" or "Fragile" all over the package. I know that from experience.

See that priority mail envelope folded over on the left side? That was a delivery from MailOrderComics that had "Fragile" and "Do Not Bend" stamped on it. We've been through half a dozen mail carriers since then, each one worse than the one before. Our current mail carrier puts other people's mail in our box more than she puts our mail in there. The one before our current one didn't know English. The one before that rode around with a package of ours for a week before my wife managed to stop her one day to ask about it. She dug it out of a huge pile of boxes in the back of her SUV and as she handed it to my wife she said, "I just never know what to do with these!"
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

One of my co-workers was waiting for a delivery at work for about a week. Each day she would check online, and would discover a status update indicating that delivery was attempted, but no one was present, despite the fact that our office has an open floor plan and there's always someone here from 9am until usually well past 8pm. They simply didn't try to deliver, but said they did.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

UPS and FedEx do that constantly with us. My wife works at home, so she's there, proving no delivery attempt was made, just claimed.

That's a shame about the book. Hopefully you can get the message across to the mail carrier not to do it again.

I think that actually encourages bending.

Well, it has been sitting between two heavy boxes for a couple of weeks. The book is flat, but unfortunately it does has a slight crease in it.

Holy mailbox jam, Batman! I've never had a problem that bad. Short of my Quantum & Woody #1 CBLDF edition (signed) that was pretty much ruined by the post office. Although I do blame CBLDF as they shipped the book in an envelope that was very easy to bend. The excuse I got was "that's the standard envelope for mailing comics". I sent them pictures of the packaging I've received from every online comic order I've placed. They never got back to me.

At least it was bent long ways, not across the spine

*silverlining*

Sorry bud! Hope the talk with the postman goes well and prevents future damages.

CJV, you might want to invest in an NRA membership and subscriptions to the following magazines:

SWAT
Soldier of Fortune
American Rifleman (comes with NRA membership)
Rifle Firepower
Concealed Handgun

Also occasionally purchase a few firearm accessories from any number of retailers. Let 'em ding up any of those items and THEN complain. I'm getting packages (books, misc "stuff") delivered now right up on my stoop with a ring to the doorbell and a very pleasant "Here is your mail Mr. Gun-Owner Guy." All apparently handled with care.

It's a freakin' Mothers Day Miracle.

Don't forget Shotgun News. And maybe some free catalogs - CDNN, Centirefire Systems, Sportsman's Guide, Midway, Brownell's and Dillon Press.

Shotgun News used to be more interesting but in the last several years, it has slowly turned into very little other than geegaws and thing-a-ma-bobs for AR-15s. But I still totally want a SpitzLead.

As a former USPS employee, it could have been thrown in a box, and a very heavy package on top. Most folks whom had to sort the packages would generally throw the specific boxes with little to no care.
I'd yell at folks to be careful with packages, most the time I'd be yelled at by the said careless person. Their logic was they were doing it fast that way, and my method was slow. I even got written up by a supervisor for yelling at careless workers. :!:
Its no suprise to me why the post office is going under. (decrease in volume of mail is huge factor).
I just got a job with Microsoft, and gladly left the USPS.
