ARGH!!

Post by cjv »

So I get back from work today, and there is a package from Valiant containing a Bloodshot 0 gold for my recent efforts in giving away Valiant comics here in South Texas! Awesome.

Except the mail carrier bent the package to fit it into our mailbox. Despite being a flattened box, the mail carrier squeezed it to fit in.

Image

Sure enough. The comic is bent. Not horribly, but very noticeably.

Image

I am unbelievably mad and disappointed right now. Not at Valiant, because like always they come through, but at the postal service.

It's not the first time. And interestingly enough, if you go to the post office website to file a complaint, there is not "damaged mail" option.

Dammit, I am really *SQUEE* off.

Hearing this and experiencing badly damaged mail tick me off. After all it is postal customer who pays their overly inflated salaries and benefits. The least they could do is treat the mail with the respect due.

THAT SUCKS :o

You need to get a new mailbox, hopefully you don't have one of those community boxes or you're screwed.

I have a normal sized mailbox, but it is in a decorative "case" designed to match our house, so I can't really exchange it for an oversized one.

10/4 I would stalk that MFer and take it up with them face to face with my damaged treasure in hand!

I've had the same posty for awhile and I put the heat on him once for delivering one of my comics to a neighbour, he knows me now and what I have sent to me. He also knows I would go all Charlie Palmer on his a$$ if he ever did that to one of my books, especially one straight from Valiant. I'd be apoplectic

I'm really good friends with all of my mail delivery people as far as giving them small gift cards at Christmas they NEVER do anything like this to me...

I had something similar happen with my CBLDF Quantum and Woody #1. It was horribly packaged mind you, but the mailman did his best to make sure it was bent. The book looked like it was wrapped around a rolling pin.

Next time you're expecting a package, swing by the closest zoo and ask to rent a hyena for a day. Let the damn thing loose around delivery time.

I once bought a half dozen comics on ebay and when they arrived, half the package was shredded. It looked like fringe. It clearly got caught in a machine. That's some *SQUEE* up *SQUEE*. PM Dino, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd send you a new one.

I don't really want to PM Dino since it isn't Valiants fault at all.

Although I may suggest to him that they stamp "do not bend" or something on the packages.

What do you think? It isn't their responsibility at all to send another one, and I don't think VEI should have to.

I would definitely have a conversation with him/her about it, depending on there attitude concerning it would determine my next move with the post office carrier.

I think that actually encourages bending.

I feel your pain. That's why I have all my stuff sent to my office -- no mailbox involved.

Is it creased? It looks like it could regain it's shape if bagged boarded and placed in a long box full of other comics...

The most wise decision, I would definitely be having a quiet word with said postman.

BTW condolences for that, it is a horrible thing to happen.

The same thing happened to me with magazines that contained a CD. Folded and stuffed in my mailbox so that the CD cracked.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

There is not a fold through the whole thing, but the bottom of it has a mark. It is currently sitting between a bunch of large, heaving boxes, to see if that can do anything.

I am going to try to talk to my mailman if possible, and hopefully that will resolve it for future deliveries. I still find it odd there is no way to complain to the post office about it.
