I'm pretty sure you're spot on with #2,as I see no other reason to collapse 2 IPs into one other than to evoke this parallel.

Both Bloodshot and HARDCorps have direct connections to the 4001 storyline so I am super excited about this development !!

I think you may just be onto something!!! It sounds so simple but in my ethusiasm for the FCBD stuff I'm not thinking logically(like others I'd bet).

Bloodshot gets a new creative team, a #0 issue and then a new title of "Bloodshot and HARD Corps" with Christos Gage writing!

Eternal Warrior by Greg Pak and Trevor Hairsine! :high-five:

Also, expect a Ninjak ongoing eventually, but not yet. And VALIANT...energy drinks?!? :hm:
Initially I wasn't happy about the title change for BLOODSHOT but having re-read #1-#10 and HARBINGER WARS #1 I can see how this makes sense and thankfully I'm excited about the direction. The FCBD H.A.R.D Corps page with the line' who will lead the H.A.R.D Corps' looks like it has Kara (from BLOODSHOT) and perhaps her war vet bro looking at a board with Valiant characters as contenders - natually Bloodshot is there.

If you look closely at the BLOODSHOT run so far, this is always the direction Bloodshot was going to take - after all his purpose now is to honor Pulse and rise against PRS. I can see him, Kara, and her bro, being the core of H.A.R.D Corps working for Kuretich. #10 indicates that Bloodshot is intending to seek out Kara's bro - perhaps he does so in HARBINGER WARS #3 when H.A.R.D Corps make an appearance?

I havent read any A&A but will pick up XO after Planet Death as a monthly again (I dropped it as I want Planet Death in TPB) where EW is due to appear in #14 and #15 - that will be my first intro to the character - I hope the ongoin doesn't require a whole lot of prior reading to understand what's going on...

I am super excited for the Eternal Warrior ongoing series! Gilad is my favorite comic book character, period, so haing him in his own series again ismhuge news for me!

I am also super disappointed that Duane and Garcia are leaving Bloodshot. I was not a fan of the Bloodshot character prior to the relaunch but it has consistently been one of my favorite titles each month (usually duking it out with X-O for best series). I ws also not a fan of the original HARDCorps series in VH1, so i am trepidacious to say the least. :(

Maybe they need Bloodshot's nanites to access the Harbinger powers? Or better/more access to them, making Bloodshot the new Softcore?

This is great news! I am most excited about Eternal Warrior and glad to hear Pak is a good writer (I'm not familiar with his work).

I think the Bloodshot & The HARD Corps connection to Rai & the Future Force makes a lot of sense especially given that HARD Corps becomes Psi-Lords. I didn't make the connection at first but it seems obvious now.

Skeptical with Bloodshot and the HARD Corps, but I have read Gage's Stormwatch PHD, and I believe he can pull this one off. :hope:

Pak is hit/miss. Planet Hulk was excellent, Fall of the Hulks was good, while World War Hulk and a few other Hulk-related storylines were disappointing.

You're right. I completely forgot that Mike Costa was on the book. I have too many comic book facts rattling around in my head to keep them all straight.

I'm disappointed that Hard Corps won't get their own book but they could add some personality to Bloodshot. I was really hoping for a Hard Corps title but this means I'll be picking up Bloodshot now.

Gage is one of those writers that has never disappointed me. He made me actually care about Dazzler villains I had never heard of until Avengers: The Initiative. I think Bloodshot is in good hands.

Consider me cautiously optimistic about these new titles.

Bloodshot and Hard Corps has me worried. Are we at the Rai and The Future Force title-rescue stage already?

How many issues does BS sell every month? Because we now know the VEI print-run break-even for a book.

The name change is a sign of market weakness and it could affect the sales of other VEI titles. If they need to shake up BS just add Hard Corps style characters and leave the name of the book the same. Nobody that turned their nose up at Bloodshot is gonna say "Oooh, now he's teamed up with Hard Corps? I have to buy this!" Apart from board members, nobody even knows who Hard Corps is; it can only be a drag on the book from a marketing perspective.

Hard Corps was kinda lame from start to finish. And the fact that Bloodshot, as a money-making prospect, has to be rescued by melting it into lameness in less than a dozen issues doesn't bode well. I hope the creative team proves me wildly wrong. But taking a floundering title (from a sales perspective) and hitching it to a title that didn't exactly set the world on fire the first time around is making me skittish.

I dearly wish VEI would have the courage to invent new IP instead of insisting on resurrecting stuff that didn't fly for very long in the 90s. Fat lotta good Chainsaw did for BS, right?

I don't see this as a valid compraison to Rai and the Future Force. That was a bad interpretation of a great character. They were putting out titles at that point that had no reason for being put out. The title "Bloodshot and Hard Corps" may not be the best, but I think the characters are a natural fit. Everything so far in Bloodshot has been leading to this. I think this will only enhance the title.

The irony is that The Malev War which ran through Rai & FF was a great arc.

Do not underestimate the impact a 'bad' title name can have on a good comic. The characters may well be a perfect fit but that will not matter if prospective buyers look at it and think "wow, one of the initial releases are in trouble already? I was wondering if they were gonna last..."

And speaking of titles that had no reason for being put out, Hard Corps is a definite candidate.

At a certain point, the old brand works against you. I look at something like Chrysler and think "I wouldn't be caught dead in a Chrysler." It would take mountains of sterling reviews over 10 years to get me to trust the brand again. Why chain that anchor around your neck when you could simply get a fresh start with a different name?

I thought Rai and the Future Force was good, the whole Malev war and Rai's death and the whole half brother of Torque2 thing (ok that's when it started to suck a bit).

I like the idea of Bloodshot and the HARD corps as a counter Harada measure and likely a big pain in the butt for the Renegades too.

I don't disagree, there was some great aspects to R&FF, I even liked the Obie and Takashi rivalry. Same may well be said for what comes of Bloodshot&HC.

I'm speaking purely from a marketing point of view. Buyers get weirded out when the marketing changes. It's a signal that something was wrong with the original. Introducing doubt may hurt more than it helps, that's all I'm saying.

I agree with you. New Coke, anyone?

I'm VERY worried about the changes - I loved Bloodshot. Only Harbinger is better in my eyes. I'm really hoping this is a good change, but I'm worried for sure.

The reality of the current comic book marketplace is that there are limited options of getting a sales bump for an ongoing series without relaunching it with a new number 1. At least VEI is trying a different approach.
