I did ask. The owner was pretty absorbed in his Donkey Kong Country game, but said that any Valiants were mixed in with the other $0.50 books. Most of the books were in pretty rough shape though.

That's the bad part about the 50 cent bin, after all these years of people digging through the books a lot of them are in less than desirable condition.

I was at a shop last week and asked the owner about a certain back issue. He went to the box he had it in and started looking. He pulled the book out I was looking for and then he pulled out one right in back of it that had been mangled up and bent.

He looked like he was going to wet his pants.

well a few weeks ago I managed to snag a NM copy of Unity 1 Plat for 1.25, it came out to less than $5 after shipping. I was pretty excited about this a) being it was my first plat/gold issue and b) it cost less than it would cost me to get an ultimate cheeseburger

then I looked around and apparently, i'm not the only one that got such a good deal, as a matter a fact I was able to look up some sales and occasionally the plats and gold go for about that price.

not sure if this was a steal or not but considering I bought my Mag #0 for $30 from TLC5555 for $30.00 I've convinced myself this was a slick deal.

A guy sold me NM copy of both Mag #0 w/ card + VVSS Rai 9 for $25.

Don't mess with the Ultimate Cheeseburger, it lays the smackdown with a combo of cheese, meat, cheese, cheese, meat, between two buns!

boo-yah!

Actually it's from Jack in the box, I think the one by Burger King is actually even better (in terms of getting a heart attack) since it adds stuff like bacon...

I only wish we had Jack in the Box out here in BFE. Isn't it kinda like Hardees?

Have you tried offering them less? Alot of dealers will sell Valiants pretty cheap to get rid of them.

I have also been finding the more common golds on Ebay for around $5, you just have to watch for them.

My lack of the later/acclaim books is hurting me, i know the store where i found the deathmate gold for 25 cents had 3-4 of the x-o 1 acclaim variant....i should get back to the the store to do a full search...at the time i had to *SQUEE* so bad i couldn't stay there any longer.

OK, whose leg do I have to hump to get some quality pre-Unity issues? They are either gone or WAYYY overpriced in my area, and there are not even many of the overpriced ones to be found! I am beginning to think you all here on the VF site have the majority of these issues hoarded away.......

One sadly funny note - I saw a Deathmate Black Gold (why does that look strange when written out?) at one store for $35.00... and it looks like it's been sitting there since before it actually commanded that price.
