I don't think many retailers have the time to keep up with what all of the variant covers look like. They got a ton of the "1:50" and only one of the pullbox, so they probably assume they are switched (and I'll assume they're right and the printer messed up). This just goes to show that Valiant has so many variants, nobody can keep up with what's what anymore.

There are now listings popping up selling the Character Design cover as the 1:50:

I'm lucky because my LCS sold me the design cover as the variant, but he only charged me 5.00 a pop, so I got a couple of all the covers pretty much at cost. I definitely wouldn't have paid 1:50 prices for either cover without this being figured out, and I feel for the people who paid more than they should.

I enjoyed having the Variant choices for a while because I love the extra art, but I do believe it has become overwhelming trying to collect and keep track of them all. I am at the stage now where I would like to see much less going forward, with certain variants being very exclusive, such as the Golds.

I am moving to the digital copies, probably, but I won't pass up a cheap cheap 1:20 variant! Unfortunately, not going to have a chance to go to my store today to look. With my luck, they will all be gone tomorrow!

I wanted to do the walk-in-wednesday with my daughter today as well.

Same here. I got the Zircher edition at cover price. And no X-O design.

Perhaps it was planned as a 1:50 and VEI, having heard the cries over the variant onslaught, took mercy and made it like a pullbox variant.

It's not possible for it to be a shipping mistake. Diamond simply would not have enough 1:50 books to fill the orders of a 1:1 book.

And I think I recall Kevin Bastos (?) saying something in a thread about "Boy, I'm glad they decided to make the X-O CD cover the only premium (1:50) CD cover..." or something to that effect.

So maybe Zircher was switched to a pullbox-style issue and the CD is the 1:50.

My LCS got equal amounts the reg and zircher variant. He also checked diamond and they are sold out of the xo design variant.

I think there zircher was mass produced and design is the 1:50

YES! I DID say that. I was graciously thanking Valiant for a month that eliminated the 1:20 variants in favor of 1:1 books - and only 1 1:50 variant.

Hmm...I had all three X-O covers in my pull with the Zircher cover bagged and boarded with a $20 sticker price. I don't usually expect to see the tougher variants in my pull, so I bought it. I'm glad it wasn't more than what I paid after getting home and reading this thread. I'll be having a chat with the owner if they got a bunch of them though! (There weren't any copies on the shelf, so I don't know what the distribution to the shop was.)

One of the bigger shops out here had the 1:50 Zir at cover ($3.50 actually for me) and did not get any of their ordered CD XOs.

This could become a big snafu.

Only 1 XO CD cover currently on ebay. It's in a lot of all 3 XO #6 covers for $50 + shipping.

Since it has been confirmed everywhere, I'm updating the database to reflect that the Zircher variant was intended to be 1:50, but appears to be the standard variant. The Character Design variant was not intended to be 1:50, but appears to be 1:50.

With all the talk of the Zircher book, did anyone get the Harbinger character design book? Does it seem like that one was distributed correctly? My shop didn't have them.

Harbinger character design has no problem in distribution.

They had 4 of the regular cover and 3 of the character design cover. I picked it up for cover price.

My shop had one and I passed on it for the regular cover. They never order enough to get any variants so I'd assume the Harbinger CD was sent to them correctly.

No, I think the Harbinger CD was distributed correctly. I saw plenty of those. Plus there was no 1:50 Harbinger solicited this month, so there was no way for the same error to happen.

There's nothing wrong with the Harbinger character design.

It's the X-O character design that seems to have been switched with the X-O Zircher cover in most of the shops checked today.

If anyone's shop had plenty of X-O character design (and no Zircher variants), I'd like to know about it.
