Then say Winter 2013...If you say 2012, then it should be 2012, regardless of your definition of "Winter."greg wrote:There are 10... that's 10 days of winter before January 1, 2013. Rai was in FCBD as Spring 2013.
"Winter 2012" goes through March 19, 2013.
"Spring 2013" goes through June 20, 2013.
There's a lot of space between Summer of Valiant and March 2013.
I'm sure if they said "Winter 2012" that we'll see it before the end of the year, if not than that would be a HUGE mistake on their part and a bad marketing move. But yeah, Winter 2012 should mean before 2013 as in somewhere between November and the 1st of January. "Spring 2013" to me means somewhere between April 2013-June 2013.
Its a minor quible, but when you admit publicly that Gilad appears for the first time in XO #1, then don't try to sell me a teaser as being for an appearance in a story arc. We also already know from previews and interviews that Gilad will be appearing in A&A. At that point the teaser has lost all meaning.
If it is the case that the tease is for an appearance, why even say Winter 2012?...He's now appearing in the Summer and Fall. They could have just as easily said "Concept Art - Eternal Warrior" and had the same effect without leading to this issue.
I'm not attacking your point, just stating that anything other than a series in 2012 that stars EW (or in which he is a "team member," etc.) will be a disappointment based on the reactions generated by that initial teaser. Even if it is Shadowman or Rai or Quantum & Woody people will start asking, "What about the Eternal Warrior series we were 'promised' in Winter 2012?"

Re: Predict the next Valiant title
They should have specified better then. To me 2012 means 2012, not 2013. If they said "Eternal Warrior coming THIS Winter!" than it would have avoided any confusion, but trying to add what could be months to a faulty statement is just bad marketing. Re: Predict the next Valiant title
That's merely a calendar technicality. The most pervasive public perception of "Winter 2012" would be "the colder time of the year prior to January 1, 2013."greg wrote:There are 10... that's 10 days of winter before January 1, 2013. If the tagline had been "Coming This Winter" that would have opened the perception up to the whole season. But specifying "2012" changes that perception to the calendar months falling within the year 2012.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
Re: Predict the next Valiant title
I 100% agree .... that's why the folks here who are in the know aren't making a big hubbub about this secret #5 title ... because we already "technically" know what it is. That's what I think anywaysBugsySig wrote:it doesn't make any sense to me that they would have those two teasers in the FCBD book only to scrap it for something else. So I will continue to maintain that the title will star Eternal Warrior even if it is not titled as such.

Re: Predict the next Valiant title
Eternal Warrior will be in A&A, we have already seen that. My guess is he and Ivar will be in and out of A&A for a while. From the HeroesCon panel it was fairly clear Eternal Warrior wouldn't be the next book. Fred alluded that the flow of the stories was the reason for the change. There was also some discussion about each book being different in its appeal to the audience and how they chose the titles they released so that their would be broad appeal. Then Warren mentions that they have X-O, Bloodshot, that are both hyper-masculine characters, and they didn't want to ad EW to that. It can be seen here:

Makes me wonder if we will see a something with a female lead? Dr. Mirage would be a good choice. It would bring in a strong female lead and offer different appeal than any of the other books.
X-O - Scifi
Harbinger - Teen/Drama
Bloodshot - Action
A&A - Comedy/Adventure
?
Shadowman - Horror
Dr Mirage - Horror/Romance
Quantum and Woody - Comedy?
Rai - Martial Arts?

I never said you were wrong. Official calendar dates... public perception... surely you understand the difference?
If an Eternal Warrior book was released in February, 2013, yes that would still technically be "Winter 2012." But it's not what people think about as "Winter 2012." When you say "Winter 2012" most people are going to think November/December 2012. If you intend to refer to the whole Winter season, you might use "Winter 2012-2013." Like here, here, or here.
And to complicate "perception" further, here are a couple articles that think "Winter 2012" has already passed (so we must be coming up on Winter 2013).
And the "X-Games Winter 2012" happened at the beginning of the 2012 calendar year - not the technically correct "Winter 2012" season, but the "Winter 2011" season.
I completely agree with BugsySig and magna4life in their interpretation of "Winter 2012." It may be an incorrect interpretation, but it is the common public perception of "Winter 2012." But, I don't think it would be such a huge marketing mistake if it's January or February before we see Eternal Warrior. I think it would only be a huge "mistake" if they announced a more specific date, perhaps even solicited the book, and were then late by a couple months.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Re: Predict the next Valiant title
I went to a restaurant last night. The food was delicious. Exquisite!
I had been waiting for such a delicious meal all week, and the meal surpassed my expectations.
Except... They arranged the food on the plate wrong! I thought the main dish was going to be on the left, and it was on the right instead. I thought the salad was going to be served before the main course, but they brought it out at the same time.
Despite how good the food was, I was let down by the overall experience.
Sorry, I know this is a bit off topic, but I felt like sharing.

A better example would be you ordered the chicken Marsala off the menu but they gave you chicken Parmesian instead because the chef thought you would like that better. Even though it was delicious and you will order the Chicken Parm again, you were disappointed at first because you were looking forward to the Marsala.Dr. Solar wrote:I went to a restaurant last night. Wait a second... Eternal Warrior? Rai? Are you guys talking about those old crappy Valiant comics that folded in the 90s?
<looks at url>
What?!?!? Valiantfans.com? I thought this was the Rob Liefeld fan site!
Are guys trying to tell me Valiant is still around? That's ludicrous!
As far as "Winter 2012", I'm sure the southern hemisphere has a whole different take on things. They're hoping for EW right now!!!
As far as menu choices, no one prefers either chicken dish. Don't you know meat is murder? I only eat tofu and beer. As is intended in nature where both are plentiful.

Tofu and beer are also staples at my house, but I do not find them as plentiful in nature...unless Kroger counts as nature. Must be living on the wrong side of town.

I could be wrong but I thought that the C2E2 promo just said something like EW Coming winter 2012... I don't recall it saying he gets his own series.
There has been far more promotion over Ninjak who probably is not getting his own series anytime soon.
Besides I already know what the next title is. Someone spilled the beans.
The next title is *SQUEE*...
