So, of you folks at Heroes Con this weekend, is anyone interested in writing a guest convention report about the show for onlythevaliant.com?

It's a good time to be a Valiant fan! The panel at 1700 was great. It was good meeting some fellow board members. Enjoy the last day!

I guess I must have missed you. The panel was awesome, though. The Valiant guys did a really good job with their presentation and the got me very excited about what's coming. Those guys are pretty funny!

Who was it that screamed out "Psi-Lords" when they were talking about who could be coming? I know it had to be someone here.

Anyways, it was great meeting those of you I got to meet. I hope I wasn't too awkward, but it'd been a rough day. I don't think I was designed for attending super-crowded, ultra hot, conventions.

He should have been thrown out of the panel right then! So disruptive.

I know there were a lot of questions asked, but I can't place this one. Were they in a band?

Where were you sitting? What was the answer? I'm trying to jar my poor, pathetic memory (who am I?).

Hate that I missed everyone. I had so much going on with the wife, her birthday, her cosplay, picking up pressed books, cgc signature series stuff, etc. that I didn't really get to meet alot of new folks. I honestly was going to skip the Valiant panel b/c of the Stan Lee panel at the same time, but the wife got sick so we just hung out in the hotel room that night. So I didn't even get to that. I did get my autograph though. The fast pass line was the way to go. I was told to show up at 3:30, we were downstairs in the turnstiles a little after 4 and I had my autograph well before Stan's panel started.

Gotta say I was kinda disappointed with the pre-unity selection at the show. Found some Solar 10 1st prints but since Solar isn't on my radar at the moment I left them.

I was able to fill some holes in my X-O run though. Got a good run of X-O out of quarter bins from the mid-40's up to issue 57. Also found a copy of Magnus 57 that I need to check for the page error. I also picked up a pre-purchased lot of books from a guy at the show and he threw in a copy of Shadowman 1, 2 copies of Shadowman 8, and a copy of Eternal Warrior 4.

I thought in general that dealers weren't as aggressive this year in bargaining. I tried haggling with several on a couple of bronze age keys but most wouldn't budge much. There were LOTS of books that 2-3 years ago I passed on that were priced 2x what was being asked for back then. I did get one to lower his price on a copy of X-Men 94 to where i was able to afford it - so I was able to check off one grail book at the show.

How did they do the fast pass with you? It was a waste of money to me. I showed up a little before 3:30 and there was no one at the entrance. I got in line and then the guy in the red shirt said "Let those with fast passes in front." I probably skipped up five people before the guy walked away and no one else would let us by and I know there were plenty in front of me that didn't have fast passes. They didn't even take my friend's pass. It was an unorganized mess.

I'm guessing we were pretty near each other if you were there at 3:30 and out by 4, because that is exactly how I was. After the signing, we were burnt out and had to find a corner upstairs to chill out in until the Valiant panels.

Well, it's too bad we didn't get to meet up. It was cool getting to meet the guys I did, though.

How long were you in line before you got to Stan? I was a few people behind the guy dressed as a stormtrooper. They took both my fastpass and autograph ticket.

Did you go upstairs to the staging area? I'll agree it was pretty unorganized. I wouldn't have known about the staging area had I not overheard a volunteer telling someone about it early Saturday morning. For me it was worth $20 just to know when to show up for his autograph and not having to stand in line for half the day.

I've spoken to several folks since the con who are upset about missing Stan. They misunderstood the whole ticket and pricing structure. A lot of folks thought they had to pay $150 just for a Stan autograph.

Gotta say the con floor was spacious and open any time Stan wasn't signing autographs or posing for photos.

I waited around 30 minutes. Probably a little less. If your Stormtrooper was standing next to one of the Sandpeople, then I was about a row in front of them. If I remember right, I was pretty close to the guy dressed as Green Goblin (maybe five or so back). From what I saw, nobody waited that long (fast pass or not). Like I said, many of the people in front of you (assuming we're talking about the same Stormtrooper) didn't have fast passes, because those are the ones I got in front of.

I'm not sure I know what you mean about the upstairs staging area. Was this for the signing? I just went to the line (like I was told by the people at the booth) and waited. It wasn't a long wait, I just think it sucks that I spent $40 on fast passes and it put me relatively in the same spot I would have been at without them.

I will say that I'm glad I got the sig, wasted fast passes or not. I found a great 11x17 print of the cover of Amazing Fantasy #15 on Friday that I had signed (along with a book), and I can scratch meeting the great Stan Lee off of my bucket list. So, no regrets. I'm just so glad he was such a nice guy... I always worry when meeting someone like that because they are often :censored: .

Don't remember a green goblin. There was an annoying sand guy with the stormtrooper though. Most of the people I saw in front of our fast pass group had true believer passes around their neck. Our tickets were taken as well.

There was a staging area upstairs in room 217 that they used for VIP's. They started seating general autograph and fast pass folks in there around 2 I think. I just heard about it and went up there around 3:20.

I didn't feel like I wasted $20 though. It was worth it for the peace of mind that I knew I'd get an autograph.

I heard that Sunday it was ridiculously easy to get an autograph and picture with Stan.

I guess that's true. Sort of like insurance. The lady at the booth was pushing the Sunday signing like crazy! When they sold out of Saturday tickets she was telling the people asking that if they bought a Sunday ticket they wouldn't even need a fast pass, it was going to be so light.

Some guy came on the CGC boards and spit some venom about the whole situation. Evidently he paid the $200+ price for the higher tier package offered by Heroescon and got scared away by the autograph and picture lines on Saturday. He also didn't get to meet Stan at the 'private party' Friday night, even though he was there.

I'm not gonna lie - I thought that the line was so long that I wasn't going to get my autograph at all; but Stan's a pro and signed everything really fast. A buddy with the true believer pass did spend all morning in line for his autograph and photograph, but felt that it was worth it after it was all said and done.

I mean Stan's not getting any younger, and he'll cross over into his 90's this year. I don't see how standing in line is a bad thing when it might be your final opportunity. I mean I had a blast in line talking with other folks about what they collected, who they had met at the show so far, what they were getting signed, etc. My time in line went by really fast.

How was the actual experience of meeting Stan? I mean, I can buy a Stan Lee autograph for 30-40 bucks on eBay. If I was going to spend any real money for a chance to meet him I would probably treasure the memory of getting to talk to him for a few minutes more than any souvenir.

To the guys who did get to meet him...was he pretty cool?

He has a hard time hearing. He had to lean in to hear me tell him thank you for his signature. For the three or four people ahead of me he had something to say about each book he signed. Nothing significant, kind of a "oh, would you look at that!" type of response.

There wasn't a lot of time to talk, but he was very nice for the short time I was there. The guy in front of me had a sketch done of Stan that he wanted him to sign. I think that got the best response I saw. He talked to him a good bit about it and even took a picture of it. All in all, I think it was totally worth it.
