Re: X-O #1 goes to third print
I sent this email back to them after posting the above:
But the item code that Diamond has on their site is APR128353 - an April 2012 item code.
And got this reply back from her just now:Heath wrote:I'm confused... the 3rd Printing was just announced. There was a 2nd printing that was a late solicitation in April.
Here's the announcement from Valiant: http://valiantuniverse.com/news/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The item code for the 3rd printing is MAY128107.
Note the item code that Valiant lists on their site is MAY128107 - a May 2012 item code.Terri at MOC wrote:Hmmmm....kind of confused myself, Heath. Diamond Comics website is showing the 3rd printing as having a late April solicitation also. See below:
APR128353 X-O MANOWAR (ONGOING) #1 3RD PTG
VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT LLC
(W) Robert Venditti (A/CA) Cary Nord
From Valiant Entertainment. The sold-out hit of the summer returns for a third printing! The all-new Valiant Universe kicks off with a landmark, oversized # 1 issue of X-O Manowar by New York Times-bestselling author Robert Venditti (The Surrogates, The Homeland Directive) and Eisner Award-winning artist Cary Nord (Conan)! Born into battle, Aric of Dacia -- heir to the throne of the Visigoth people -- has never known peace. After a brutal encounter with a mysterious enemy known as The Vine leaves him a prisoner on an incomprehensible world, the only hope Aric has of returning to his family and saving them from slavery is to seize a weapon of incalculable destruction and become X-O Manowar! The Vine destroyed Aric's world. Now he will give them war. Scheduled to ship 07/18/12. (7644)
It's got a ship date of 7/18/12 but it is showing the FOC (Final Order Cutoff) date as 6/25/12. But, it is not letting me order it. I have an email in to my Diamond rep to see what is up with this. I will let you know as soon as I hear back from her.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Not sure what you mean.Aram wrote:Uhm... How could the 3rd printing be solicited before the 2nd was announced?
The 2nd printing was announced May 21. The 2nd print is in stores today.
The 3rd printing was announced a couple days ago. It arrives in stores July 18.
Re: X-O #1 goes to third print
I went by my shop, but they decided against ordering any of the 2nd prints. So no luck.vikingspawn wrote:Anyone pick up the second prints?

Those were really hard to find? This store orders heavy on alot of things. As you can see from the pics, there aren't many rabid Valiant fans going for the books over here after a month. Most are distracted by "Saga", Adventure Time and Thief of Thieves to notice. I can go back.

What are they charging for the variants? I see a price sticker, but can't make it out. I'd love to get the Harbinger 1:20 variant. That is my favorite cover of the whole launch so far.vikingspawn wrote:Those were really hard to find? This store orders heavy on alot of things. Re: X-O #1 goes to third print
$15 for the 1:20s. I couldn't get into liking XO #1 so I skipped getting issue #2. I'll probably go back and see if it's there. Probably will be. lol.. When these don't sell to the Wednesday morning variant sharks on new release day, that means they aren't bothering getting valiants. That's why the stock just sits there after weeks later.

DCBS was more than happy to add an X-O Manowar 1 3rd print to my orders.

I did the same thing for the 2nd print and it will be included on my next order. I have e-mailed them several times and every time they have taken care of me.

Had an email from MOC this morning saying they got it straightened out and have added a copy to my order.

Re: X-O #1 goes to third print
I paid a visit to 4 lcs yesterday. All of them had plenty of XO 1 1st pritings sitting on the shelf. None of them have any plans to order the 2nd or 3rd printing. It's too early to call it, so hopefully after a few more issues and also a couple more titles out, things will pick up and people will buy these. Otherwise they are headed to the bargain bin.
In regards to comparing to Saga; Saga 5th printing was on the shelf at all 4 shops. Printings 1-4 were all sold out. Sold out at the shops, not just sold out at the distribution level which has much more meaning.

I have a feeling this 3rd printing is going to be really, really scarce.

More meaning for that shop, not for the publisher.tevans333 wrote:I paid a visit to 4 lcs yesterday. All of them had plenty of XO 1 1st pritings sitting on the shelf. Re: X-O #1 goes to third print
If the XO #2 variant is not easy to find, one can assume that XO #2 did not sell enough copies as much as XO #1.
Its not easy to find the 2nd and 3rd printings if shops still has tons of # 1s left sitting on shelves.

Re: X-O #1 goes to third print
X-O #2 was never going to be ordered in the same quantities of #1. #1 was not just a series launch but a company launch. It was always going to be the most ordered.drmirage wrote:If the XO #2 variant is not easy to find, one can assume that XO #2 did not sell enough copies as much as XO #1.

Re: X-O #1 goes to third print
I think he means more meaning for the book in general. If it sells out at distributor level, that's great for the publisher, but it doesn't mean much to anyone else if they are just lining the shelves (and eventually the quarter bins) at comic shops. I'm not saying this is completely the case for X-O, but it does look like it will be in some situations.BugsySig wrote:More meaning for that shop, not for the publisher.tevans333 wrote:I paid a visit to 4 lcs yesterday. Re: X-O #1 goes to third print
It's been said to death, so I don't want to repeat too much, but it seems very regional and even shop to shop. Some have a stack left, some never had any or had very few in the first place. It may take some time before the ordering levels out across the board and we know for sure what the monthly sales will be like.etos45 wrote:I think he means more meaning for the book in general.
