GJ's run on GL as writer is right up there with O'Niell in terms of the impact he has had on the mythos.JonesyAZ wrote:I just re-read the first TPB of "The Sinestro Corps War" as well as some of the "Tales of the Sinestro Corps" one-shots. Hot damn is this a good read!!!!
I can't wait to continue reading into TPB #2 tonight!!!!!

Thanks for that.dave wrote:Possible spoilers:
After reading Witches and now Rose Red, which included issue #100, all I can say is, big whoop. It took 12 trades to get through the one main story, and then the Dark Man shows up, devastates Fabletown and then the entire thing is pretty much done in 2 trades? Should have left him in that gold statue.
I'm not all that excited about the new direction. Nurse Spratt and the Dark Man together? Whoop dee doo. Should have kept that a secret for a big reveal later.

18 was the month before 27. I'm a bit delayed in my reading. I don't have a copy of 27 yet either.xodacia81 wrote:Love it. Missed the last book-27, was it?-so if 18 is out...I may have to take a quick trip to the store and just grab the two issue I've missed. LOVE that damn book.400yrs wrote:Chew 18. There's a certain "sameness" to many of the stories as well. At first, you never knew where any of the stories were going to go. Then the obscure Boy Blue became the hero, then the obscure Fly catcher became the hero, then even Buffkin the monkey rises up to become the hero.400yrs wrote:Thanks for that.dave wrote:Possible spoilers:

After that, it felt like the book was dragging on.
Fewer surprises seem to be coming our way.

Amazing Spidey 659.
The FF is in this. I don't read FF because I don't like it. Why make ASM an FF book? That's dumb.
One reason I don't like the FF: They named their kid Valeria. The ways it's pronounced, you make it rhyme with malaria. I don't know if that's a regular name in some country, but that's a stupid, stupid name for a comic character.

I went back and started reading the most current volume of Invincible Iron Man. So far read 1-11 and need to get up to 39 to be 'current'. The Larroca art is great and the story thus far has picked up right after the Skrull invasion and looney tunes Norman Osborne is in now in charge of S.H.I.E. err I mean H.A.M.M.E.R.
This is the point I dropped off reading a while back so it is nice to pick this up again with enthusiasm. The War Machine spinoff from the last volume looks interesting as well. It looks like Rhody is more machine than man at that point but I saw a panel with what looked like a new body in a tank for him so I can imagine where that is going to end up.
I never thought the Iron Man stories could be so entertaining.

I've heard differently. Willingham has hinted that he's always had a 300 issue plan but that he could end the series at just about any point if the bottom fell out on sales. I think the first 75 issues were very well constructed and I think we as readers became accustomed to certain things. I believe he shook things up far too much far too quickly, after #75, and then lost what momentum he had by taking the side-trip that was The Great Fables Crossover. I will admit to not looking as forward to Fables every month as I once did but overall, it's still one of the better books on the market and those first 75 issues remain one of the best runs I've ever read. If there's any major problem with the current Dark Man arc, it's that the whole thing seems far too rambling compared to the excellent pace of the War agains the Adversary storyline.Chiclo wrote:I heard somewhere that it was supposed to be 75 but I don't know how accurate that is.400yrs wrote:Xodacia or anyone else..... Do you know what the original endpoint was for this before he decided to try for 300 issues?

I just finished re-read The Dark Knight Returns.
SOme of it was very good, some just kind of rambled. I could get what he was trying to do, but a bit long winded.
One thing I really enjoyed was the use of the splash pages. Each one was a VERY powerful image.
Now I am reading a Star wars TPB, the Golden Age of the Sith. So far so good.

As did I. At one point, I had everything from fall 1993-summer 1999, which is about the time I got the hell out of comics the first time.OmenSpirits.com wrote:most of those tale of the jedi were pretty good. Wikipedia: As had occurred during the first time she was born, the cosmic rays that gave the Fantastic Four their superpowers made the delivery of Valeria extremely difficult, and because Mister Fantastic was caught up solving a world-threatening crisis, the Human Torch had no choice but to call upon Victor von Doom for help. Doctor Doom used his vast intelligence and mystical capabilities to successfully deliver the baby.400yrs wrote:One reason I don't like the FF: They named their kid Valeria. As the price for his help, Doctor Doom insisted that he be allowed to name the child. He did so, naming her Valeria after a woman he had loved in the past (ironically, Doctor Doom would also eventually be the murderer of this woman).

Do I remember Valeria as a teenager at some point?Doorman wrote:Wikipedia: As had occurred during the first time she was born, the cosmic rays that gave the Fantastic Four their superpowers made the delivery of Valeria extremely difficult, and because Mister Fantastic was caught up solving a world-threatening crisis, the Human Torch had no choice but to call upon Victor von Doom for help. Is her last name Richards? I remember her being called Valeria von Doom at some point.
How old is she in the comic?

In X-Factor: The Invisible Woman Has Vanished she appears to be about the same age as her brother Franklin. Or maybe just year or two younger than Franklin or maybe it's her super-intelligence.Chiclo wrote:Do I remember Valeria as a teenager at some point?Doorman wrote:Wikipedia: As had occurred during the first time she was born, the cosmic rays that gave the Fantastic Four their superpowers made the delivery of Valeria extremely difficult, and because Mister Fantastic was caught up solving a world-threatening crisis, the Human Torch had no choice but to call upon Victor von Doom for help. I personally like the name Valeria. It's no more stupid than the name Ororo.400yrs wrote:Amazing Spidey 659.
