What comics are you reading now?

I'm done with it too. I wanted out two issues ago but dragged my feet hoping for a payoff. There is one really good moment in ish #7. One moment is not worth the cover price imo.

Currently reading the first Cerebus phonebook and loving it. I'm learning a lot about comics too while I do it, which is amazing. How did Sim learn so much about the medium as he was starting? Did he have work before Cerebus?

Chew #17: About time this thing arrived. Another great issue. Return of a villain, another appearance of Olive and some great Tony/John interaction. Good stuff.

Brightest Day # 21: Now why the hell couldn't they have done this 4 or 5 issues back? The Martian Manhunter RULES! Oh, and multiple characters were interacting with each other, in group scenes, not just monologues/inner dialogues or two people sitting down having a chat. Thumbs up for the 4th straiight issue.

Green Lantern # 63: Holy CRAP! Oh WOW! Folks, this sounds like hyperbole, but this is gonna be HUGE. Seriously, this is going to change the way Green Lantern is set up. You want secrets set up and revelealed? You got it. You want character development? Done. You want growth? Also done. Good art? That too, is done. I can not WAIT for the next issue of this book. Hell, this whole line, right now, is superb.

Dave did a lot of different work before Cerebus, your best bet to find out about some of the things he has done if interested would be to check out issues of Cerebus Archive, where a lot of that stuff is being reprinted. Here's a checklist, contains things done before, during and after Cerebus:

Wha Huh..... #1 This book pretty much admits that the big comic publishers think their readers are idiots.

G-Man - Cartoony book by the guy who did the Marvel Minis stuff. This was a funny, good read.

Final Crisis was surprisingly a good read the second time around. After reading so many crises however, I need a breather...whew!

I need to read something uplifting, yet tear-jerking pretty soon. I think I Kill Giants is the best thing I can think of. Maybe Essex County.

This was alot earlier in the night. I think I'm running out of beer. Considering walking to the store.

This is what keeps me from going over sometimes.

Thanks!!! That was my battle axe for many years. It was my recording guitar, my show guitar. That *SQUEE* took all kinds of abuse including being straight up dropped when the strap crapped out. It's a Classic 1960, not a Standard so it has different pick-ups (a bit more treble-y) and a slender neck, but I love that guitar. I can't ever see myself parting with this guitar. We've been through alot together.

With that being said, she needs a tune-up. The contacts in the plug-in are off so i can't get her to work consistently with my amp. She is going to the shop for a fixin like she deserves.

So......

This one is a newer axe. This one is called a Gibson Robot. She is *SQUEE* ugly, but she sounds almost like a standard Les Paul. She is called a robot because she tunes automatically. You see that bottom silver knob? You switch that on and she'll tune automatically. Pretty sharp for someone who is tone-def like me now (almost).

If you are looking for a nice Gibson, you may want to see if your local shop has any Robots left and try one out. They were discontinued a few years ago and the shops around here were trying to get rid of them so they were pretty damn reasonable for a Gibson (i.e. talk them down). The only real drawback that I've noticed is the funky body coloring on these. They sound great. The neck isn't exactly a Les Paul Standard, but they feel nice still.

Ran out of OJ. Glad I bought some red bull. Wife has Bud light. Might have to switch to that crap for beer.

Medium Pulp OJ? I go with the no pulp option myself.

I do think Simply Orange is one of the better orange juices out there.

My daughter loves OJ, but hates it when I buy the one with the pulp.

I drank Tropicana my whole life until a few months ago when I realized it tastes too sweet.

My favorite OJ is actually India River brand. I don't know if they have that in your area, but if they do, give it a shot! Simply Orange is definitely preferable to Tropicana.

The Simply Orange did the trick though. I have no idea how or when I ended up in bed last night. I remember seeing 3:00 on the clock, but nothing after that. I think I still have some PMs to send.

Just read the first 18 issues of The Sword by the Luna Brothers. This story is amazing. I am surprised that I did not find it sooner.

Did you read Girls? If not, definitely try it and Ultra. I'll try anything by the Luna brothers.

I read the first issue of Girls. It looked well written but it sure felt like some weird stuff was going on.

I finished The Sword last night and all I can say is wow! I did not see that ending coming. I was really surprised by the last couple of issues. I really recommend this series.

I have not tried Girls yet. The girls deluxe edition has been sitting in my bookshelf for about six months and I am breaking it out today.

Also, I did read Ultra and really liked it, but thought the sword was better.

It's always fun when i get excited about reading comics and when I just can't put down a series. I read the entire series of the sword yesterday in about a day and half.

Since my LSC has closed and I've decided not to continue keeping up with current books, but concentrating instead on buying older books and runs here and there, I've been spending my time catching up on books I've picked up over the past couple of years but hadn't gotten around to reading. In the past couple of weeks I've read through Jim Lee's Divine Right series (one of Lee's works that you hear very little about), and Jim Lee's run during the first 19 issues of Punisher War Journal.

I have alot more to catch up on from the eBay lots I've scored through the past 2 years or so. Now it's more of a problem of what do I want to read next! I think I'm gonna break out the Megaton Man books I've scored, and then maybe read through the Byrne Alpha Flight run. I've got tons of Valiant books that I've picked up as well that I need to read.
