I would think hiring Warren Simons away from Marvel to be executive editor is a pretty good start as far as top notch creators, unless you don't like his work.
Other than that, when the books finally come out I would hope you would base your opinion on their merits vs. how long it took the company to produce, nobody else was in line at the bankruptcy auction to give you product any faster.

Correct.. and the only VH characters that could be used with Q&W would be heroes that are well known throughout the VH Universe. So, unless Shadowman was known throughout the world he could not be a part of the Q&W comic. Im not sure what characters could be used in a comic books set within the VH Universe. Spider Aleins??
And, IF a semblance of a character could be used, that character could not use any knowledge of its VH 'prime' character.
You and I understand this.. the question is: would the writers and editors be able to keep it separate??? Im not sure if they could!

Look at the books in your collection. How many times have you honestly said "great book, but I wish it would have shipped on time"? I'm betting never.Cyberstrike wrote:If they get top notch creators that I like then I might start to be interested, but generally I hate people and companies that waste my time.Draco wrote:It doesn't take a genius to work out that you arent the only one feeling that way here, but in the long run im pretty confident they will be putting out some great books with shweet creative teams.Cyberstrike wrote:A year or two ago I would have been very excited but now I'm barely even interested, sorry but VEI wasted to much time in secerts to me interested.

How many people complaining about the Star Wars prequels muttered "they would have been better if they came out sooner"? Again, I'm guessing not at all.
I think it's great that you are enthusiastic about the books and don't want to wait, but these things take time and nobody is going to be robbed of their enjoyment of these books because of the years prior it took to get them off the ground.
Besides...of all the people who should feel like their time has been wasted here, I assure you it isn't us fans.
My advice...just sit back, relax and wait and see what the new Valiant looks like. You might even like it.

There are a few series (Like the Black Cat series by Kevin Smith) that I have missed out on the end because they were delayed so much that I forgot about them. I think the bigger problem is that delayed books usually aren't that good to begin with. *cough* *cough* Deathmate Red...Michael Woods wrote: Look at the books in your collection. I may be the only one, but I am a firm believer that the prequels would have been much better if they were released in the late 80's to early 90's as they were intended. One of the biggest problems I have with the prequels is that they are so clean and shiny from CGI that I have a hard time accepting that they were supposed to come before. You can argue that releasing them this late was better for the franchise because it introduced a new generation of kids to the films, but I don't think it was better for the movies themselves. Just my opinion. How many people complaining about the Star Wars prequels muttered "they would have been better if they came out sooner"? Again, I'm guessing not at all.
I agree with you that post-launch all of this waiting will not matter as much, but just to play the flip side of the coin... If VEI had launched sooner (granted, it would have probably needed to be much sooner than was realistically possible), then it would have been more likely for them to continue on with the original continuity. That is something that I would have really preferred, but I realized that it's been so many years now (it was probably too many years even by the time VEI bought them) that if you were to pick up on continuity most of these characters would be past their prime.I think it's great that you are enthusiastic about the books and don't want to wait, but these things take time and nobody is going to be robbed of their enjoyment of these books because of the years prior it took to get them off the ground.

That being said, though, I would much rather VEI took 7 years to get to launch if that is what was necessary to create a sustainable company, with great stories, and tight continuity. I love that Valiant is being more "talkative" now with Facebook and Twitter. It's nice to see an end to the waiting in site.

I fully encourage everyone to like the Valiant facebook page or follow the Twitter account. These are just getting started but are being built to be the prime sources to get information about Valiant Comics.etos45 wrote:

Actually, I fit that description. Seriously, think about it. If Lucas had made the movies earlier, he would have had different actors for one. And I'd like to think the scripts would have been better if they had come out before George's arrogance was so great that he thought he didn't need a co-writer. Then there's the whole CGI debacle. The aliens in the original movies looked a hell of a lot better than all the computer animated *SQUEE* in the prequels. Tell me that Jabba doesn't look freakin' awesome in Return of the Jedi. Then there's the whole anime style influence from movies like Blade and The Matrix. Yoda flippin' around? Come on!Michael Woods wrote: How many people complaining about the Star Wars prequels muttered "they would have been better if they came out sooner"? Again, I'm guessing not at all.

it wouldn't have been as "awesome" as we make it out to be today.
Star Wars comes out... it's great.
Then Empire... it's great.
Next is Return of the Jedi... 6 years after Star Wars...
6 years of waiting for the big finale of the movies.
What do we get?
A grand finale of the Death Star exploding... again.
The revelation that Luke and Leia were brother and sister... who kissed in the last movie.
Finally, the credits roll... with... a sing-along with teddy bears.

Just a note..."George" has ALWAYS been arrogant and it has always been extreme. He has just plain lost his talent and his knack for knowing what does and does not work. Case in point: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.Burrito Boy wrote:Actually, I fit that description. Seriously, think about it. He hasn't had a truly great project since The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. If you haven't seen them, I highly suggest the dvds, where they are known as The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, are packed with historical documentaries and, sadly, lack the intros/outro's featuring a 93 year old Indy. However, you CAN find those on Youtube. Most are throwaways but a few are very funny and a few are very poignant.

I'll second that, however Lucas always said they were kids movies and at the time it was ground breaking for sci-fi so no one really cared that ROTJ was lame, especially us kids. Hmm it's kinda like original VH ... creative lightning in a bottle, placed on a pedestal to which nothing can compare. Hopefully VEI can market their way to glory like Lucas did.Chiclo wrote:Greg, I don't think I have ever so solidly agreed with any of your statements as I do now.greg wrote:I still believe that if the internet had existed at the time of the original Star Wars trilogy,Burrito Boy wrote:Actually, I fit that description. I agree, too, but still, ROTJ was cheesy fun. Unlike the last 3 movies. Those were just cheesy, and in a bad way-at best.
