At least a couple of those guys are busy these days.magnusr wrote:His own or what he draws?X-O HoboJoe wrote:His anatomy sucks!Burrito Boy wrote:That's an assumption I don't think I can make. Which artists from the comic biz today would you like to see?
I'd like to see Ivan Reis, Ethan VanSciver, Alan Davis and Mark Bagley on some new Valiant books.![]()
But I'd like to add my vote for that Stu Berryhill guy.![]()
/Magnus
PS, Calafiore and/or Guichet would be great additions as would Berryhill.

Hell, if you wanted to play it out to close the actual time gap and have the characters not aged much, have an extended 2-3 month battle with an spider-alien armada after right after Jack died in 1999. Use relativity to an advantage so that by the time they get back it's 2012. The GK 3 can be alluded to being on a different ship and got separated during the battles. Leaves doors open just in case plus sets everyone back in place with all the ramifications of being gone for 15+ years.

Could work, but yes, rather fanwanky. Still, it's plausible. It worked for Aric of Dacia, after all.X-O HoboJoe wrote:Hell, if you wanted to play it out to close the actual time gap and have the characters not aged much, have an extended 2-3 month battle with an spider-alien armada after right after Jack died in 1999. Depends. Vague references to "the others" or something, might be fine. If left THAT vague and not directly ref'd or, of course, named. Don't use specific things that happened to those characters or because of those characters, in the scripts, at least in as much as can be avoided. If that happens, maybe you'll be fine.Daniel Jackson wrote:Could they even reference the GK 3 to explain the disappearance or would that get them into legal problems?

I know the fans will get what they are referring to, but new readers might be scratching their heads with something too vague. Wish them luck finding the best way to do it.xodacia81 wrote:Depends. I think new fans will just always wonder who these "others" are and if VEI can't ever get the GK3 back, then one day in the far future, they could come up with some alternative that explains the functions once served by the GK 3.Daniel Jackson wrote:I know the fans will get what they are referring to, but new readers might be scratching their heads with something too vague. Let's be honest, it's really the GK 1. Solar.xodacia81 wrote:...they could come up with some alternative that explains the functions once served by the GK 3.
Magnus is from the future, so he has no impact on the past or present.
Turok is from no where... the Lost Land.
If you lose those two, you really haven't lost anything about Valiant... except those two.
If you don't have Solar, then you don't have the "god" of the Valiant universe.
The question is whether you really need one.

Gilad or some sort of "being behind the Darque Power/DP as its own thing", maybe.greg wrote:Let's be honest, it's really the GK 1. Solar.xodacia81 wrote:...they could come up with some alternative that explains the functions once served by the GK 3.

Funny you should mention Gilad, while I was just reading this quote from Executive Editor Warren Simons from yesterday: "a guy like Eternal Warrior -- I cannot wait for you to see what we’re doing with him. I mean, the possibilities are seemingly limitless for a character like that. And how he ties into the Universe...wait...I’m getting ahead of myself here."xodacia81 wrote:Gilad or some sort of "being behind the Darque Power/DP as its own thing", maybe.greg wrote:Let's be honest, it's really the GK 1. That sounds to me like Eternal Warrior is KEY to all aspects of the universe.

It's also interesting when we think about how Solar "created" the original Valiant universeJersen wrote:Makes sense to me as he would be the character that is a constant presence in all points on the Valiant timeline. That makes me very excited!
with the culimating event being highlighted in the all black-covered Solar #10...
we get the first appearance of the Eternal Warrior in the same book.
Solar #10 could be important to the origin of Valiant... twice.

The more I think about, the more I think Valiant will be just fine without the GK3. As much as I love them as characters, Magnus and Turok aren't essential to the Valiant U and were never even big sellers.greg wrote:Let's be honest, it's really the GK 1. Yeah Solar created the universe but that doesn't mean he always has to be around. And like you said somewhere he's already known to disappear for hundreds of years at a time.

Quite. It would be a smart move and in keeping with the old Valiant, in that they are solid pros/vets that won't cost absolute top dollar. I think some good vets-even if "newer" vets-sprinkled with some very new talent would be the way to go. I don't just mean on illustrative art, either, but on the writing side, as well.Jay Tomio wrote:2 consistent vets who put out books on time.400yrs wrote:I wonder if VEI is contacting some of the guys who worked for DC, but haven't been introduced on the new titles.
