Welcome to the board.SpaceGhost wrote:Hi,
Been lurking for awhile, and with the news of the Valiant return of Valiant comics, I thought I'd put my 2-cents in.
That is in fact, David Aja (Iron Fist artist):

It seems a lot of the old guard are on the other side of the fence. As a fan of the characters, I will wish the former artists and writers all the best, as I do follow them when and where I find their current work interesting, but I will give the new books a shot, too. Perhaps one day, things can change. Until then, I'm going to wait and see. 2012 should be pretty good.IanAlexavier wrote:marvel1 wrote:Thanks but no thanks, and we'll leave it at that.
Hope they get the best people for the job.Bummer...

You undersell yourself. Either way, I do agree they need to do this right in order to get the marketshare they need in order to survive.marvel1 wrote:Imaging the pressure?
With the market as it is ( look at the DH/GK implosion ),you have to have the right talent on board,I consider myself good not great, they need better than great.

That's an assumption I don't think I can make. The thought of Valiant without Jim Calafiore or Yvel Guichet makes me cry.Lightning Strike wrote:Let's assume for an instant that none of the previous artists from Valiant's past will be on board for the relaunch. Which artists from the comic biz today would you like to see?
I'd like to see Ivan Reis, Ethan VanSciver, Alan Davis and Mark Bagley on some new Valiant books.

But I'd like to add my vote for that Stu Berryhill guy.

Now that I've gone back and read the whole thread, I have a few more thoughts. I'd like to echo the mentions of Arthur Suydam, Ernie Colon, and Mark Schultz. I'd also like to add a couple of my personal favorites: Mike Grell and Sam Kieth. What can I say, I'm a fanboy when it comes to those two.
And if Valiant ever did Turok again--which I know is almost unpossible--the best artist for the job would be Gary Gianni. The style he brings to Prince Valiant would be great for a more GK style Turok without talking bionosaurs.
And I completely agree with this:

Well, the person who first mentioned him (I'm too lazy to go back and find out who so I can scapegoat them) said he'd be good for covers. I'm just repeating the name. I guess I should've been more specific.400yrs wrote:Dude charges fans $20 for a signature. $20 seems steep for a signature but his art sure is purty.

PS, Calafiore and/or Guichet would be great additions as would Berryhill.
