So I read the most recent issue of Batman and Robin today, the one Grant Morrison is writing. It introduces the next phase in the Batman decay - Batman Inc.

Grant Morrison has lifted the X-Corp idea from Grant Morrison's run on X-Men and thrown it into Batman. Grant Morrison should be offended at being so blatantly ripped off.

Batman Odyssey is absolutely horrible. So horrible, in fact, that I just have to follow it to the end to see how low it will go.
I have for a while. But the last couple of months it's just lost me. Odyseey is mental... I'm enjoying how weird it is in a way.
Batman: Odyssey to me is unreadable, the dialogue just about makes no sense to me. The art is decent, but certainly not Adams at his best. I'm very thankful that I only paid $1 each for this, instead of $3.99.

I have to agree... I read up to issue four and was just disgusted. Crazy talk during the story (IF there is actually a 'story' being told), the art was NOT that great (and I am of the mind the Neal is THE Batman artist of my generation.... IMO) and there is no way I am going to continue with this book series. In fact, this is pretty much the series that prompted me to make this thread. There is not one Batman book out now that I am looking forward to reading. I will be trying Batman: The Dark Knight coming out later this month because of the Finch art and the focus on the supernatural but I am so scarred by what is going on now, I am afraid that even this new book will be like taking a cheese grater to my recent scars.

Morrison hasn't done anything even halfway decent since 52 and even his contributions there are debatable. I mean, the guy once had himself talking to Animal Man. Nothing he has written has made sense in ages, with Final Crisis being the finest example of craptacular I've yet seen from him. Can't speak to the artwork, as I've not picked up the series, but to hear that Neal Adams has lost it when it comes to The Bat, is sad.

I think the art in Batman: Odyssey would be passable, if Neal had only agreed to let someone else write it. The art actually reminds me of the stuff that was in the Continuity books, some of which was done by Neal, while other work was done by various Adams' clones. I don't know if this is Mr. Adams' first writing credit, but it's REALLY bad.

I was wondering if anyone else had the same opinion of Morrison's work. It is hard to follow and doesn't make sense.

Back on topic. Just read Batman & Robin 16 and The Return of Bruce Wayne 6. Batman & Robin was ace, really brought everything back together and made sense of everything for me and there was some serious action and 'hell yes' moments. But I'm sure it'll polarize fans with some of the revelations. The Return of Bruce Wayne didn't have quite the same bang for me and I didn't enjoy this series that much over all.

I have to agree about Return #6, it had a bit of a lackluster ending for me, but perhaps it reads a little better if you read it in the context of reading the larger story at once and putting it between B&R #s 15 and 16.

One thing that really gave me a "hell yeah" moment was the ending portion of Red Robin #17. A nice moment where you see that no matter what, Tim IS Bruce Wayne's son, more than Damien will ever be. And then they go on patrol together, just like old times. It really brought up a possibility that I hadn't thought of. Just like Damien is Dick's partner for maintaining Gotham, Tim has already been working on an international scale, and can still be Bruce's partner!

I've really enjoyed Batman & Robin, and if nothing else from this era 'sticks' Damian Wayne is a great addition to the mythos.

And I can confirm that the Greg Rucka/JH Williams Batwoman arc in Detective comics was superb (and the tpb is about as good looking a book as you could ever buy).

Yeah, Detective was my favorite book every month while that story was going on. I loved the Question 2nd feature in there as well.
