What's really funny is everyone says they know what these books are worth yet the guide values as posted here on this forum show the books to have a combined value of $257 dollars. By that figure, my asking price is kindly discounted.iggy101us wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/1993-TUROK-DINOSAUR ... 0696168079
Here's a copy of Turok #1 that sold for $0.99 plus $3.75 S&H on 9/19/2010. Someone paid $4.74 for a Turok #1. Does that mean that all our Turok #1s are now worth $4.74 each?
Yet if you search for completed auctions, there are a couple of pages of unsold Turok #1s with similar starting prices. I would say that the $4.74 sale is a fluke sale and that Turok #1s normally don't sell for that much (based on all the other unsold auctions).
Also if people search the ebay seller pages they would find I'm one of the guys keeping the value of Valiant comics up by having very good sales. I've sold them for way more than people here are claiming. Maybe I've just had a better experience as a salesman.
yeah, about that...captain1stern wrote:What's really funny is everyone says they know what these books are worth yet the guide values as posted here on this forum show the books to have a combined value of $257 dollars. By that figure, my asking price is kindly discounted.
the guide was last updated 6/23/2008, so they could be slightly outdated. when's the next issue coming out, greg?
definitely not post count. just start your own thor thread, or retaliate against the thor thread by starting your own tammy thread and you've got that covered in no time at all.otma wrote:BTW, in most of y'alls opinion, which nullifies n00biosity faster, post count or time spent as a registered member, regardless of post count?
see rule #7 and #21 (the quote at the bottom): viewtopic.php?t=11443
it's not the post count, nor the time registered; it's how each of us contributes to this community in our own little ways. it took me five years to break 100 posts. yes, i "lurked" for five whole years. was i a noob for not posting? no, i was present the entire time. i was a noob for not contributing; u see, there is a big difference between "posting", "being", and "contributing." but this place has the power to suck u in, and turn u into not a noob, by making u want to contribute. i look forward to the day i can give a little something back to this great group of guys (and the occasional gal).

Another good point. I've used that guide for two years now and it hasn't changed. I kind of figured that without anything new the market value of these had just leveled out.toddyboy wrote:yeah, about that...captain1stern wrote:What's really funny is everyone says they know what these books are worth yet the guide values as posted here on this forum show the books to have a combined value of $257 dollars. I'm curious if a Harbinger movie is really coming out or if that already died.

Is that one of those terms of endearment newbies or everyone with less time in than me sucks newbies. I didn't know the nerd forum would be so judgemental of people.

I made a business out of buying and selling Valiant comics for a year; so I've got some knowledge about their value, expert or not.slym2none wrote:Judgmental? You are the one coming on a site that could be considered the expert opinion on VALIANT issue values and say that we don't know the value of a Magnus set just because you are selling one for $160 and one happened to sell on eBay one time for $160?
Look at recent completed auctions and give me an average. I bet it would be less than $160 - lots less.
And "newb" (or the derivations of) is always a term of endearment. When we want to insult someone, they will know it.

Sure. Start a new thread in General or Registered Members section. I think we all like to read about it and hear people's opinions.captain1stern wrote:Thank you, I find the back and forth amusing. Is there a good spot here for something like that?depluto wrote:I like the noob ... aggressive level of participation.

By the way, if you look at the "Wholesale Baseline" in the guide, you'll all those Magnus see those books add up to about $75.
If you check the Price Guide Info, you'll see that the "Wholesale Baseline" should be used
when someone is selling a bunch of issues at the same time in a liquidation format.
That would be what this topic is about, right?Price Guide Info wrote:The WHOLESALE BASELINE column represents a minimum price
that should be received in the event that these books are being sold
in a wholesale format. Because it is not always possible to find a buyer
who needs every book in a collection, the sale of a collection "as a whole"
often results in a much lower price being paid. Collectors and dealers
who are not in the market for these particular books are normally unwilling
to pay full guide prices when the books are being "dumped" by the owner.
The WHOLESALE BASELINE column should be considered whenever
books are being sold quickly and "all at once", and should represent
a fair estimate of what prices the seller should receive in those circumstances.

If there's no time to wait... $75.
If you're in no hurry... double it.
