…but no golden ticket.

I did the same with the Valiant Era II cards and actually had two sets because of the sendaway cards. The funny thing is that I never bothered with the actual set—guess I gought caught in the hype.

I did have a complete Era I set with all of the chase cards. I lost those but replaced them about a year ago—still one of my favorite sets next to the first Marvel Universe.
I thought the Valiant era cards were extremely well done and remain among my favorites as well.

I forgot about the Unity set. Is it worth tracking down?

Bite your tongue! Besides, if I only collect Pre-Unity (and the Unity books) then why have the card sets after that?

This is the only surviving card set I have, too - all my X-Men cards were sold a while back. Of course, I probably couldn't sell the Unity cards, but oh well, I am not trying to.

;)

In a way that’s probably why I don’t have the second set—I had the actual comics and it wasn’t all that exciting. On the other hand, I had very few Pre-Unity books at the time so having the Era I set was very cool (and still is).

I’m surprised that DC or Marvel never did a collection of comic cover cards. I probably would have bought it. Did anyone here by the Gold Key Turok set that came out not too long ago?

Era 1 set was pre-Unity?

Eh, oh well... I am just not in a position to care about cards anymore. I wonder if those old Star Wars cards are worth anything??? I have a stack of "well-loved" blue, yellow, and red-bordered Star Wars cards from the 70's.....

:hm:

Era I was mostly Pre-Unity. The last cover is HARD CORPS 4--so every cover through six months after Unity. The chase cards are especially nice too.

Back in the day I pulled the Unity covers and assembled the two puzzles just for kicks. They didn’t fit together as well as you might think.

And yes, I've looked into buying the Star Wars cards and they were pricey. Only in NM-M condition though...

I've often thought about digging though my serialized books and seeing if I have any winning serial numbers just for the hell of it.

Does anyone know of having a winning serial number? There were quite a few of them.

Kinda sad once you think about it. If any one of us had won the collection we would probably know. I wonder if the winner even appreciates the prize anymore.

When I started collecting Valiant again I was holding the last serial number book I needed, thinking about how awesome the serial number contest was and how bad I wanted to win it. It was a cool feeling—owning the universe...

I haven’t checked my numbers against the list since the contest. I probably should since most of my Post-Unity comics were lost and had to be replaced. :hm:

I remember checking every one I had back in the day, so I was not the winner.

And who got the worlds largest comics panel. The one that made up Solar Alpha & Omega. Thats always really bugged me. The sure size and value means it must be around SOMEWHERE!

Does anyone still check these - I do.
Always hoped for a winner - and get cgc.
Would be so magical to own.

I always check, even any unbagged issues in back issue £1 bins
I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.
