Dino twittered that he took a dump and stunk up the new Valiant offices. Then someone else heard about that twitter message and posted about it on the THIRD Valiant related message board (which no one goes to).jedimarley wrote:ian_house wrote:Everone knows what?!robb77 wrote:ah well everyone knows now so its all goodgreg wrote:They didn't post there. I said I'd post in this thread at least once a month and if I am proved mistaken I will happily stop posting in this bloody thread.leonmallett wrote:Still nothing.
I plan to post at least once a month in this thread simply because I don't think VEI are going to publish comic books, and though it may make me a negative nelly, and I want to be proved wrong, I don't think I will be...
The fact that a thread like this exists and is largely home to reasoned discussion is symptomatic of the lack of impetus from VALIANT Entertainment.
I just checked their site: 14 months since the last news item, just over 12 months since the last press release, and another month goes by without any real word of progress. Yes we get the veiled hints from 'people who were told something by someone but can't say anything yet but if we all knew we would be less concerned'. Well rumour does little to allay my concerns and in the absence of concrete (as concrete as things get anyway) news, then if only rumour remains then things do not bode well.
I still believe that VEI were focused on licencing first and formeost and that is why I believe we haven't seen the publciation of new comic books. I think they probably paid too much leaving too little capital to publish a line of books, but I could be wrong.
I think (not fact, just opinion) that they were counting on a quick capital injection from licensing which hasn't materialised. I think that is why we are seeing no new comic books and not even a new HC in over a year.
Unless I missed it there has been no announcement of an EiC or equivalent position being filled. All I can see is a company that many (most?) here on this board would have liked to have seen as a comic book publisher doing nothing in the way of comic book publishing.
As ever on this matter, I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Just did, but thanks for the notice anyway.
Link for those who may have missed it
In a way it changes little of my opinion.
I still think if they had capital available they could or should have published something. 8 months of sitting twiddling thumbs seems less than ideal. It makes me believe my original hypothesis remains intact. Look at DH as the comaprable example - look at the speed and openness with which they have operated with the GK properties versus the lack of impetus from VEI.
As I read the linked thread it seemed that VEI were saying that Jim Shooter was on staff, yet he wasn't renumerated as anticipated with the promised benefits, nor did he sign a contract (allegedly)? I don't know the facts of course, but to me that smacks of posturing more than anything by VEI.

In sports they say, "Winning cures everything."
IMO, that is where VEI is. Once they put out some books, all will be good. Until then, not so much.
I do believe they they have the intent of putting out books, and that they have had the intent of putting out books. We may never know the "real" factors that have led to the current situation.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Mine is:
-That they always wanted to do new books as part of the plan.
-They had plans in place, circumstances developed (what circumstances ???)
-The HCs was an ok start but really they need to get to books. (why can't they reprint the individual books? Maybe do a year, or a 1/2 year of reprinting old books. Pre-Uni? BWS A&A? Much cheaper for them and for us and it would remind everyone that Valiant =
-They SHOULD have been MUCH better with communication and official announcements. (They DO NOT owe it to US, it is just good business practice.)
And new opinions based on the latest news.
-Suing Shooter has a very small possible positive outcome, and a big negative impact. (I can understand the sticking up for themselves point. And not setting a precedent IF they did have some kind of understanding with Shooter. But still to me the bad outweighs the good.)
-Um.... I'm pretty sure that Shooter will not be writing any of the new Valiant books, and I am bummed about that.
-Maybe, just maybe, VEI did all they could for Shooter and he was the one that is really the cause of the recent developments. (I am not firm in this belief, but it is a possibility, .... but I agree, probably not a probability.)
-Regardless of the lawsuit or whatever, VEI needs to get out some product. Maybe all along they wanted to have Shooter, and for whatever reason they could not. Well, now they KNOW they will not have Shooter. SO maybe they can move to option #2.
-I would think about getting out something quick. Now it needs to be quality and not just junk.... sounds like a good quick fix would be more reprinting. I would stay away from the $25 HC. Do $10 TPBs or even cheaper individual books (pre-unis?)
And lastly, I should be involved in the re-launch.... but again that is just my opinion.

The more I think about it, it seems like a natural fit. Really a history teacher is just a storyteller with elbow patches on his jacket (gosh I really want one of those).leonmallett wrote:Elveen wrote:...and lastly, I should be involved in the re-launch.... but again that is just my opinion.![]()
Maybe we can start a grass roots effort. Kinda like a street team.

We need some slogans. And banners. "We got the patches you need" - okay it needs work.

Banners and slogans.

And placards.

Banners, slogans and placards.
