I seriously doubt that we will ever see Valiant characters at Dark Horse.

While there might be a lot of bad dealer sentiment towards Valiant, I think that the general comic book reader sentiment is pretty good. Most comic readers that were around back then remember liking some series, like X-O, Shadowman, or A&A.

The comic industry is pretty wacky these days, and a comic publishers customers are as much comic shop owners as they are comic readers. It will be interesting to see how VE approaches this.

I think there is interest out there, but it all depends on how things are handled I suppose. Like you, I still see a lot of the bad Valiant vibes at the local shops in my area as well. They ordered the hardcovers, but not in huge quantities. At least it got them talking about Valiant again, plus they did like what they saw.

I don't believe current sentiment matters much. No one was pining for magnus, solar and turok back in 91 either...If you make good comics, the sentiment will change. Spidey and bats and the x-men have all had their ups and downs, but people come back for quality.

I know the sentiment you're talking about, I've seen it too-but I just think that it won't matter in the end.

I hope they are developing that property and taking their time to 'get it right'!
It could make a great movie, but right now would be a terrible time to release it-People would assume it was nothing more than an Iron Man rip off.

Not a logical assumption, I am afraid. Dark Horse have been clear that their new take is not a continuation of VALIANT, therefore what motive would they have to obtain the characters since such an acquistion would confuse the matter (and require a further - potentially confusing - reboot as well)?
I don't think so. Depending on what Shooter does with the GK characters, he could reboot the other Valiant characters to fit in with his DH GK reboot, if DH were to acquire the other Valiant characters in the future.
I think the odds of this happening are a snowball in hell, but hypothetically I think it's possible.

Well hypothetically, anything is possible - this is comic books, after all. :)

It just isn't a logical outcome. :(

It seems like a lot of Valiant's potential movie scenarios are appearing on the silver screen in some form or another lately. The one you just mentioned, Push is very similar to Harby and the new GI Joe movie uses what looks like the suits the Armorines wear.

I still think the best movie would be Shadowman, while the best TV series would be A&A.

i agree, ian. maybe thats why shadowman would make a good movie. a simple (but good) idea that would only take 2 hours to flesh out. the better, more intricate stories are so hard to shoehorn into a movie. lots of good stuff would get left out. thats why A&A would be PERFECT for an ongoing series.

My vote would be Solar Alpha & Omega for a movie, and Eternal Warrior for a tv show. Someone should start a poll ...

why not? give him some different duds and a new superhero name and keep the seleski story intact. very little from that storyline is Gold Key dependant

Wouldn't you feel a bit gutted if you saw it though and Solar was conveniently called something like Sun-Man or Nucle-aids with a rip-off suit.

No thank you.
The Gold Key/Dell stuff is gone. No point in trying to rip it off or make hald assed replacements.

with shooter's definitive statement of not working with VEI, and the exciting Dark Horse news, i am almost to the point where i don't care if VEI dies. shooter built the valiant universe on the cornerstone of magnus and solar, and he has the chance to do that again. yeah, we will miss out on some cool characters, but what he is cooking up may be even better this time around. I believe in the creator more than the creations.

maybe. so why make him a superhero then? just make him a superpowered guy, with no costume identity or cheesy nickname. maybe that would be hard to market to the summer blockbuster public, but i think creatively it could be done very easily.

i do agree though, it probably won't happen.

Personally I always thought Valiant was a little too grounded to make massive blockbusters from(in comparisson to other comic companies). For example Solar/Phil would have to be a lot younger, sexier and cooler. He'd need a massive bad guy to fight off against, rather than spider aliens. And he'd need some jail bait. all massive needs for big summer films.

I think quite a few people are starting to feel similar.
