early sears is fine...the later stuff though? He almost became a characature (sp) of himself...IanAlexavier wrote:I liked Sears too.. most of it isnt house style though. I guess I have mixed feelings about it then.
Maybe Bart could go towards a house style on the inside and then let him do his thing on covers![]()

You know the reason most don't like VOZ was probably due to Inker: John Dixon. He used a ball point pen on some issues. He even managed to butcher some of Rags work.
I don't think he had any inking experience when he started.

I've actually stopped buying books for awhile because I found the artwork on a particular series to be so intolerable. I would have to wait for the artist to finish his run before I would buy the book again.Zaphod wrote:Art is art, sometimes it can be distracting but I can either ignore it or get used to it if necessary.

Fair enough, Larry Stroman almost had me quit X-Factor in the 90's. I never had any experience with Valiant artists that made me consider quitting the title though, mostly the writing.Daniel Jackson wrote:I've actually stopped buying books for awhile because I found the artwork on a particular series to be so intolerable. There is a lot that effects the final product.
You can have a great artist that looks like crap because of a bad inker or bad coloring. Or even a bad printing. Look at some of the later Acclaim stuff. Like Calafiore on Armorines. I think the coloring really messed up the art.
I can't remember which later Valiant books were effected but I know there were some that had the entire print run messed up from bad offset that made the printed pages look fuzzy.
On the other hand you can have a great inker or colorist improve a bad artist.

A cousin of mine has said that he's almost skipped some issues of Fables because of the guest artist. The one he hates the most? Mike ALRED! Yeah, I know. But, different strokes, I guess.Daniel Jackson wrote:I've actually stopped buying books for awhile because I found the artwork on a particular series to be so intolerable. Yes thats the one! I remember seeing original B&W art and just was amazed at how messed up the printing was.dellamorte wrote:The last issue of the Visitor.x-omatic wrote:I can't remember which later Valiant books were effected but I know there were some that had the entire print run messed up from bad offset that made the printed pages look fuzzy.

I was disappointed with all of Voz's Valiant stuff that I have seen. If the inker was that bad why did they keep him so long?x-omatic wrote:You know the reason most don't like VOZ was probably due to Inker: John Dixon. He used a ball point pen on some issues.
