What comics are you reading now?

Invincible 59. Friggin excellence!! This was an awesome stand alone issue before the huge crossover issue in 60 and the conquest thereafter. If you want an introduction to this series, #59 would probably be a decent one.

Kirkman is the plot master. He always has a bunch of plots running in this book and he always manages to pull something out of an old issue that most writers would never bother to do and makes a brilliant story out of it.

This issue follows around the villain instead of Invincible. The origin of the villain, who is a brand new character to the series, is related to the big fight that happened way back in issue 11 or 12. What happens to the villain in this issue is almost gut wrenching the way that the issue was written. This could be a very good Invincible villain somewhere down the line.


Madrox Mini from the 2004 Marvel Knights line. This was pretty damn good. It had a noirish feel, which I like. Madrox is a very cool character if he's written well, but I'm sure he could be very confusing if poorly written. But it's Peter David, so it's solid. I read this as a precursor to reading the new X-Factor series. I'm sure I'll like it.

I was catching up on my Ultimate marvel books. Can anyone tell me why Jeph Loeb gets work? Both the Ultimate Cap and Hulk annuals were horrid.

I blame the "universe" - there is only so much one can do when a company rips itself off.

Seems like kind of a waste to have invested time in reading it since the story was never finished. The art was pretty to look at (with the exception of issue #34), and it was an enjoyable read, but I wouldn't recommend it since it's an incomplete story.

One thing I noticed, since I am also reading an older run of books at the same time (Crossfire from Eclipse). The Sojourn issues were VERY quick reads. I think it probably took about five minutes to read each issue, as opposed to the much longer amount of time it took to read the older books.

But I think Crossgen had better stories towards the end. On alot of the books they had the same creative team for longer runs. Kinda like B.H. on Shadowman.

Green Lantern Emerald Dawn - Good story. I think this is the last of the GL that I have so I'm finally starting the Sinestro Copr War (if I don't keep buying earlier stuff like I have been lately).

Ronin - Still trying to make my way through this. I'm in the middle of issue 3. This is the kind of book that makes me want to stop reading comics altogether. I probably won't finish this series so that I can read better stuff .... unless someone here says that it gets a hell of a lot better near the end.

I think a better idea would have been to either integrate the robots and deal with the ramifications of robots living alongside the humans they once were killing OR they could have had Magnus send them all into exile. But the "killing"? Yes, very out of character. Still, some good stories came out of the the post-Malev War, pre Giffen era.

Miller's way over-rated. Most of his stuff I have to fight to read through. Haven't read Ronin but, that goes for the Dark Knight Returns and 300.

Kaare Andrew's Spider-Man: Reign is shaping up to be a cool homage to Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns.
