OK, so they're going to kill Alfred off (again) and redo the Outsider storyline from the 60's . . .dbostejano wrote:USA today has leaked what is going to happen to Batman

RIP

As far as the speculation over Robin being the leader of the Black Glove, the only Robin it could be is Bruce himself (since he dressed up as Robin long before Batman). I don't see it being Drake, Todd or Grayson.

I click on that link and it just talks about Neil Gaiman's story but gives no details.dbostejano wrote:USA today has leaked what is going to happen to Batman

RIP
I imagine that is what he meant. I think the fact that they use quotes each time they mention "die" that Bruce Wayne isn't going to pass into the afterworld, but retire.in which the crimefighter is so shaken by a secret from his past that a new Batman must be found.
Honestly, I am all for that. Bruce Wayne is still an exceptionally interesting character, it is time for a new Batman.
What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

****POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT****X-O HoboJoe wrote:And boy does it suck.superman-prime wrote:ya well you can read it today![]()
Just read Batman 429 and make a few changes.
Yeah, a character appears to die in a __________________ and a couple of months he or she will be back in Gotham. Despite my concerns about customer demand the whole thing appears to have been unimportant. When I arrived at my LCS at 7 p.m. there were still 15 or so still on the rack and I may have bought the only 1:25 issue. Obviously the mainstream media did not bite on this which was nice. Overall I found the whole thing anticlimactic though.
On a positive note I’m looking forward to the O’Neil and Gaiman arcs and surprising enjoyed Smith’s Cacophony. Also, I just bought the new Batman: The Animated box set—way cool.

Although I dropped Batman midway through RIP, I picked up the final issue to see what happened.
What a waste of $4. That was just the same as all the other disjointed, cermungulated sh!tty issues of this run written by Morrison.
The "death"....... stupid.
Cap 25 was a bajillion times better.
*SQUEE* DC. I'm done with them outside of Vertigo and Wildstorm. That was *SQUEE* terrible.

Why? He was killed to kick off a plotline that had been building in Captain America for two years and was assassinated by a group of villains who didn't appear in Civil War. If it had appeared in Civil War it would've felt random in the context of that miniseries (kinda like the Secret Invasion finale).superman-prime wrote:cap 25 was a rip it should have been in the last issue of civil war

It made sense for it to be in Cap. Putting it into Civil War would've been a gimmick only. It had to be in Cap if you read the series.superman-prime wrote:it just felt like a extension if civil war to me but, i dont read cap either just civil war and a few other events in the marvel U
Seeing some of the series that you enjoy, I'm very surprised that you don't read Cap. Pick up the trades for the whole series and start at the beginning. You won't be disappointed. I've never cared for Cap much until this Brubaker series.
