They are the kind of game people either love, or don't really care about, it seems to me.

The first game like that I played was FF-VIII's demo disc, and I played it so many times I about burned a hole in it! I immediately bought FF8 when it came out and still have it. I played it during the election nights, no less! I have FF7, but I played it after 8, so it wasn't all that exciting (I think I am maybe 10-12 hours into it.) I also have FF10 and 10-2, but have never played them.

10-2 is pretty much a PASS. Not worth the effort, imo. 10 and 12 are, however. 8 is a special game that not everyone will get.

I love FF8 - It took over 80 hours to get through the first time, then 90+ the second time. THEN I found a power-up guide (where you don't gain a level UNTIL disc 3 and you have all the "bonus" attributes junctioned) and tried it, but didn't know I screwed up something majorly until after 100+ hours, so now here I am, fourth time around, and I started playing the day before the election and I already have over 30 hours into this game and I'm about ¼ of the way through.

And I am gonna be so bad-a$$ by the final fight...

Finished this last week (took about 30 hours) and immediately started over with a new character. Kept a late-game save on my original guy and used him to hunt down all the Super Behemoths. I've been going back and forth between the two saves this week.

Now I think I might do all the quests and bobbleheads. Best game I played all year.
