Just saw this thread. Of course I would love to see Shooter write the book if it's possible.

I Just wish someone would have let us potential writers know so we don't waste time working on a project that doesn't need our help.

Della,

You are absolutely correct. Jim initially told us "NO", but now he has said he might. It is expensive (think nice used car) to hire him. At this point it is just a question not a reality. If it does happen, the writers will be the first to know.

Also, you can never rule out a true "fan" edition of the book (by all the writers involved) that would be posted online for all to see.

Just how expensive?

This is why I don't like the Marvel way of writing, the writer screws you twice. First you pay him for the plot (panel descriptions) and then you have to pay him again for dialogue.

That's like a penciller charging you twice, first for the characters and then for the backgrounds.

A page rate covers both. If you pay a penciller 100 dollars per page, it's for the whole thing, both characters and backgrounds, and if you pay a writer 75 dollars per page (yes, writers earn less than pencillers) it's for both plot and dialogue.

It's a rip off.

Well if you're paying the writer twice, then he or she is making more than the penciler.

I have a question. I've been reading that since Unity 2000 is going to be finished, we all have to track down the original 2000 issues. Why can't Unity 2000 be released as a tpb now that its going to be finished?

All the art was done by the original team of Starlin and Joe R. Not sure about the coloring.

Starlin stated years ago that he had penciled Unity 2000 #4-6 but when Acclaim was unable to pay him what was they agreed to he refuse to release the artwork to them. After went Acclaim went belly up he released some of the art online and/or sold it to collectors.

Given that there are plenty of coloring programs and lettering programs
that are used by a number of people who aren't comic book professionals for various webcomics. So basically almost anyone can do the color and lettering.

Out of curiosity, how much did Shooter want and how much more would it make the comic? That seems to be the big, unanswered question. I'm still for it, but if it's going to be a lot, then I have a lot of faith that the fans here could complete it with as much integrity as Shooter... :twocents:

i'm willing to toss in cash for shooter's fee.

as for lettering i have a friend named chris crank, and he letter's comics. he used to work at devil's due publishing. i'm sure he's willing to do it for a small fee and it'll look professional.

Let the board guys do this.

Save a bucket load and see after if it can be put together as half VEI/half fan TPB.

Seeing as the storyend is known to us large $$$$$$$ does not need to be spunked on Shooter.

I'd contribute. When the time comes, somebody let me know what's needed. Oh, and I say Shooter. He started the story lines, I say we let him finish them.

I see both sides, but I lean this way (of course, it was after I voted Shooter...). That actually sounds like a pretty good idea.
