They actually are before my time too, but the illicit drug scene in college man.... far out.
I've never done a single illicit drug in my life. Had PLENTY of opportunities to (I'm a California boy, of course)....but never chose to.
Unless you count being in the same room as pot smokers....

It's the one vice I can stand before God and say I was clean on.

The other stuff, though....oy vey.....

Nicely done. Worm #1... check!ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Here's the first.....
"Back in the day", EW #5 was considered the TRUE first appearance of BS.
Now, granted, he appears in "flashback" in Rai #0, which came out between the books....
But....back in the day, it really was EW #5 that was important (though EW #4 was no slouch.)
Both books ended up being $15-$20 books by summer of 1993.
I know, right...?

How about Amazing Spider-man #299 vs. #300?
Eternal Warrior #4 is Hulk #180, ASM #299...
Rai #0 is Hulk #181 and ASM #300.

I saw "The Wall" about three times before I started enjoying it.
I listed to "The Wall" album straight through a couple times before it clicked.
Basically, you've got to feel alone. If you're not feeling alone,
(or in the mood to think about the times you were alone)
then Pink Floyd is as useful as Happy Birthday when it's not your birthday.
It's ok for everyone else, but you just want to tell them all to stop singing.

Well I am more excited by the idea of Valiant concepts in other Mediums and the eventual return of the comics. I am in no rush for new books, as I would rather see Dino and co do a relaunch right rather then rush to market with unfinished low quality books ala acclaim 99 and blow whatever name recognition and value the brands still have.jedimarley wrote:Did I miss the sign-up for the VfVss rose colored glasses?Dr. Solar wrote:50% of the volume that the glass contains currently holds water.jedimarley wrote:They are? I mean this time last year the conversation was not when Valiant was coming back but if, due to the legal troubles surrounding VEI due to Vip.
Thats progress.

I love Foyd as much as I love Valiant comics!!! The song is about Sid Barrett. He was the original guitarist for Pink Floyd, but he didn't kill himself. He went crazy and had a nervous breakdown due to the large amount of acid he would take (the fact that he was Shizophrenic didn't help either).Elveen wrote:ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:I love that phrase, and would love to know where it came from.....Elveen wrote:Chiclo wrote:That's it?ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:greg wrote: Would you rather have a stack of Hulk #180 or #181?

.......
That's all you have to say about comparing Eternal Warrior 4 and Rai 0 to these other books?
I am disappointed. There are no more heroes.
Maybe you traded them for ghosts?
Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here. It is a song about one of the ex-band mates that killed himself.
Sid Barrett died about a year ago due to complications with diabetes.
Thread jack over....now on to more Valiant discussions!!

After reading this artical it's obvious to me there is NO way VEI will be producing comics of NEW material in comic form in 2008.jedimarley wrote:They are? In fact NO new news came out of the panel IMO except that Armed & Dangerous and The Crackle is being colored for the FIRST time.
I guess those titles will get some type of reprint situation are those worth a HC treatment? Depends I think Armed & Dangerous is if you include the unpublished "Irish Eyes are Dying" mini that never came out.

Perhaps they are hoping to cash in on a movie or something that would provide funding for a comics line eventually.
My excitement for a Valiant return was based on the hope of reading comic books similiar to those that drew me in around the time of Unity. Thats really the only thing that would interest me. Not reprints of stories I already have with a little bit of new material.
[for me] A new Valiant comic line doesn't have to adhere as much to strict continuity as it does to the style of comic book telling plus some of the characters I've already grown attached to.
But without that comics line - all the other news is nice to hear, but not really all that interesting.

Christ, Greg. They weren't ever at the Con.
And Jeff's comments read like "Ifs" and "Maybes".
Specifically, the board equivalent of Newton's Third Law of Motion.
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
So, in this instance, the action was a doom-and-gloom comment followed by an eyeroll.
The equal and opposite reaction was an overly-optimistic response with a thumbs up.
It's just science, really.

looks positive to me. lots of talk about behind the scenes work and movies. not surprised that jeff gomez doesnt know if comics are coming, he seems to only be involved in the hardcovers and a bible for other media.
so far the new valiant has put out two quality hardcovers, gotten the right people on board (shooter, layton, hall, leeke etc) and got a major hollywood deal for harbinger (im still shocked). this is what we want people. of course comics are coming. Valiant is a comic book universe. im happy for things to go this way and slowly get better than to be disappointed about a 4 issue mini that came out right after the auction and failed with nothing since. which is what could have easily happened.

sounds like the perfect way not to get new comics. if the hardcovers dont sell then its more likely the new valiant wont want to try their hand at riskier material. and if the hardcovers dont sell to us (the target market) new comics are really riskyGeomancer wrote:Good point.BloodOfHeroes wrote:(emphasis added)Artemis, who colored the new cover, which was inked by Bob Layton, also worked on the Harbinger hardcover and is working on a Valiant bible to assist with pitching Valiant properties to other media.
Right now, there does not seem to be any definite timetable for a new comics line, or consensus that there will actually be one.
To me, thats really disappointing. I think I will hold off on buying hardcovers until after a shipping date for a new comics line is set.

But they should be intelligent enough to know that the key audience is waiting for new material, I think the hardcovers & the bible are just the kick-start to the company. They appear to be looking for investors at this point and they have only had a few months of total rights to the characters. Slow down folks
they'll get there.

it also makes sense to get the movie ball rolling on these. movies take years to film, comics take weeks to make. getting a name like ratner onto harbinger guarantees more eyeballs on the new comics when they come out. just smart business.MoonChild wrote:But they should be intelligent enough to know that the key audience is waiting for new material, I think the hardcovers & the bible are just the kick-start to the company.
