I like him as a penciller, but not so much as an inker. I personally am hoping for Tom Ryder or Ray Kryssing. Tom worked well with Bob on Shadowman and I really liked Ray's work on X-O with Bart Sears and Andy Smith.betterthanezra wrote:Don't be suprised if Bob Hall inks this himself...k_c_collectibles wrote:Greg,
Any idea who the inker and colorists are?

Like he did with Armed & Dangerous...

Bob Layton would be my first choice, but I figure with Jim Shooter doing the writing he would not want to have any part of the book, but I could be wrong...

Uhhhh...... Probably not.ManofTheAtom wrote:Dino after the money from the sales of the HC comes in...

Let's say they sell 30,000. I think VE will get about $10 from diamond for each book, so thats $300,000.
Let's say each books costs $7 for the printer to print and bound in that quantity (30,000). So, $300K-$210K = 90K. The VE has to pay Shooter, Hall, the new colorists, and the people who put it together for the printer. Could easily be $40K.
Now, if you run the numbers at 100,000 copies, and lower the per book cost to about $5 from $7, it starts to add up.
More likely picure of Dino after the orders come in:

So where's the information from? It reads like a release but I can't find it on the net.greg wrote:Valiant Entertainment is proud to announce the full details of the upcoming publication, HARBINGER: THE BEGINNING, first to the loyal fans at ValiantFans.com! I hope there are plans to put the new "Origin of Harada" online like Dark Horse does with the epilogs in the Hellboy trades. I always thought that was a classy move on the part of Dark Horse (plus how many people are really going to buy an entire miniseries again just to get a few extra pages?). It always left a bad taste in my mouth when a company tried to force me to buy a story again in a different format just to get 5 or 10 new pages, it's like they're punishing you for faithfully buying all the original issues.
Anyway, I don't have that sort of money to blow myself, and if I did I wouldn't use to re-buy issues I already own, but I would love to read the new story.

HC page count vs Singles page count
The first eight issues of Harbinger (0 + 7), not counting covers, have 182 pages total.
Counting covers that's 190 pages... ad two pages for credits and that gives you the same total as above.
Apparently the Origin of Harada comic is not integrated into the HC, it's an insert like Harbinger #0 was the first time around.

You know I was going to do that math myself when I saw the page count but you just saved me a lot of work! LOL Thanks! Good to see you're still hanging around here.ManofTheAtom wrote:HC page count vs Singles page count

You should do it to make sure I got it right (though it looks like I did, heh).
I'm glad the Origin of Harada story is an insert, it's a good omen... oh wait, Omen was the bad guys

In all serious, that information is exclusive to ValiantFans.com at this point.
It reads like a release because it is a release... just for us.
The "hard copy" will be in Previews on Wednesday.

This is all great news. Shooter and Hall now that is a Valiant dream team. Bob Hall just did a piece of art for me and I tell you all now that the man is at the top of his game. This is going to be something special.
I'd be interested to hear from a source in the know if the new story is in fact separate from the hc or included. I know MOTA broke it down but those numbers could be off if they don't give each cover it's own page, maybe it's all eight spread over two pages or they don't have two pages for credits. The only thing Greg's post states is that the new story will have it's own cover but we don't know if that cover is printed in the book and we don't know how long this new story is.
Regardless I'm getting a bit excited about this.

Could be an insert (it does have it's own cover) that's 8-22 pages. It could be in the hardcover and be less than 10 pages, "cover" and all, since that's a fairly average length for an original extra of this sort. Regardless, 25 bucks just for that is too much for me (and I'd imagine for most folks). I can only rebuy the same material so many times.dellamorte wrote:This is all great news. Like I said, I hope VEI goes the route of Dark Horse and puts it online.

Complete agreement. Take a look at your LCS or book store in the coming weeks. See how much other HB trades are going for. Most with this number of pages are well over $30!Daniel Jackson wrote:I think 25 bucks for a hardcover is fairly reasonable. I believe that's the price Valiant was asking for the Solar hardcover.
I think it's a bargian!

Don't let what happened the first time happen again... buy now or regret it later, lol.
Seriously, people who buy the HC will try to sell the insert by itself for much more than the HC is worth.
Don't look at it as buying something you already own for 25 dollars... think of it as buying something you don't have (the origin) for 25 dollars now instead of 50 or more later.

The recent hardcover printings of Dr. Solar and Magnus (Gold Key reprints)
have the same number of pages (about 200) and retail for $49.95.
There's no new material in those...
(Amazon sells each for a discount on the original $49.95.)
I'd say $24.95 is fair.
(...and a discount wouldn't hurt either.)
