Haha...can't wait to hear the sellers response to that.
Your wish is my command:

"wow you must have a really boring life to waste ur time wrighting me that message for no reason other than to be a jerk."

Whaat? You mean he didn't thank you for trying to save him some embarrassment....yeesh go figure.
My actual response (yeah, yeah, it's caustic, so what):

"HAHAHAA....You're such a dillhole.

Idiots like you, who have no clue what things are actually worth, but go around assigning bizarre "prices" to them, because they're too damn lazy to do a little research, are fun to laugh at. What YOU don't get is that I'm RIGHT. You SHOULD be saying "man, thanks, I had no idea. I'll fix that right now."

Instead, you send this nonsense. HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! By ALL MEANS, THROW your money away!

Boring? No, not at all. Laughing at morons like you is FUN.

Thanks!"
Absolutely perfect response, too bad it'll be wasted on deaf ears though.

That "By ALL MEANS, THROW your money away!" should be heard in Homer Simpson's best sarcastic voice for full effect.

Aw, that poor eBay seller. He's getting harrassed and it is obliquely my fault.

That leaves me feeling all content inside.

Oh wait...
Unity #1 and #0- silver edition
It's supposed to be the Unity 0 Silver edition.

No research, I guess.

How embarrasing.

I especially like the guy's statement of "I'm starting this at less than 5% of Overstreet"....

Except "Overstreet" in THIS case is for a NM COPY.

THIS copy is, AT BEST, a Pr/Fr with BAD eye appeal, and MAJOR damage.

In other words, he may as well have referred to the Guide price of a Captain America #317, for all the relevance he has.

Guide for this book? About $20. FULL, 100% GUIDE. And I'm being GENEROUS.

In other words...this isn't at 5% of Guide...it's FIVE TIMES Guide.

Stuff like this just *SQUEE* me off.

Apparently not.....the book Chew won yesterday has been relisted already. ;)
Did you report him ?

I would like to see if he bids again on the same book. :hm:
I did report him..I already told him he was reported. Sadly, I won one of his auctions before I caught on, and told him I wasn't going to pay because I was shilled.

Some of the relisted auctions sold for more, some for significantly more, some for less. I haven't crunched the numbers to see if he got a net gain.

He sent me an e-mail saying he was going to leave negative feedback, and a non-paying bidder (which he can't, if I can get him booted.)
Well...eBay's got its collective head up its arse.

They "didn't find sufficient evidence to support shill bidding."

Despite the fact that it doesn't get more sufficient than this.

I pray for the day that eBay goes down in flames.

Another seller who thinks his books are worth more than everyone else's. Cerebus, he might have noticed, is an ENDED series.

Sure #2 MIGHT be worth $60-$70, but the rest are easily obtained quarter books.

And, of course, the requisite of ALL crappy sellers: "No returns. As Is."

Which DOES NOT APPLY to merchandise that the buyer cannot inspect IN PERSON before purchasing.

Just so you all understand that.

A seller who lists the NEAR MINT "BV" of an item, but curiously leaves out the ACTUAL Guide value of said item.

Might as well give the price for a Gen 13 #3; it would be as relevant.

Seller's response:

"We have been doing our listings exactly like this for 7 years. Where have you been? The purpose is for those who do not have an Overstreet at hand, to quickly determine the value of the book. In addition, the lower values can basiccally be calculated from the top down. More relevant than you thought, huh?"

Except, of course, that logic defeats him. If it was important for "lower values" to be calculated "from the top down", then why not simply include the ACTUAL GUIDE VALUE OF THE ITEM IN THE FIRST PLACE? You know, instead of FORCING them to "quickly determine the value of the book"?

If they don't have an Overstreet at hand, wouldn't it be EASIER to give them the ACTUAL value of the book, instead of trying to make them CALCULATE it based on an irrelevant figure and NO FURTHER INFORMATION? (you know, like PERCENTAGE of Guide that THIS book in F/VF IS?)

The purpose, of course, is to fool people into thinking the item is worth more than it is, and thus get them to bid more. If they listed the guide price for THAT book in THAT condition...well, they wouldn't get as high bids, would they?

Logic...confounding fools and scam artists since 486 BC.

Yeah, yeah, I should probably let people have their shady practices....but gosh darn it, I just CAN'T.

Sent a message to the seller...
Did you mean $100? Because $1000 is wayyy too much to be asking for 220 comics. No offense intended.
 :D :P

$100 is still a bit high for that batch, but closer to the realm of reason than the realm of LSD.
