I sure loved the cover to X-O Manowar #0. It was very striking for me at the time and I was very into Quesada which is why I loved his run on Ninjak. Nowadays, I can take him or leave him... I see the cartooniness of his work and I am leaning more towards realistic artiwork. ahhh Neal Adam's art has spoiled me.

I actually think my first Valiant book was Harbinger 13

Image

Then I went crazy and bought all the back issues from there. . . .

I think my most expensive book was Harby #1 $75.00

I still don't mind that I paid that. It was my grail at the time.

It made me happy just taking it out a looking at it . . . .

I wish I could claim I was drawn in by something more key than this, but - Archer and Armstrong #15.

The word "grail" gets thrown around farrrrrrr too much in comics collecting.

Yeah, but if you're talking about Valiant collecting, Harbinger #1 is a reasonable choice.

I think the first I remember is Solar 1. I didn't read it when I picked it up for a couple months. Then, I got Magnus somewhere around 3 or 4 and loved it. Probably why Magnus is still my favorite because it was my first. Then, X-O around the first issue. Loved that too. THEN I read the Solar 1 and fell in love with it. After 3 titles I was hooked!!! :-)

I don't think my girl will take it very well if I tell her, "Baby, I just want to set this Giant-Size X-Men 1 right behind your head this time, OK?"

She might be more interested in a Giant Size Man-Thing anyway.

Unity #0. My local comic shop owner tossed it in with my Marvel stuff i was collecting at the time. Took it home gave it a read then started picking up the rest of the series. Month later I had cancelled all my in-store Marvel suscriptions and was collecting the entire Valiant universe. :D
