I don't think that's what he meant. They have the characters, but the rights to the actual names are what's in dispute.Todd Luck wrote:They currently own all the copyrights and trademarks without dispute?greg wrote:
As far as your earlier comment that VALIANT Entertainment has none of the characters,
they have EVERY character that VALIANT created.

There's no dispute about the characters... trademarks are just words.Todd Luck wrote:They currently own all the copyrights and trademarks without dispute?greg wrote:

They haven't lost any of the trademark words yet, and I don't know if they will,
but even if they lose a word, they haven't lost a character.
Gilad is the Eternal Warrior. If they can't call him "Eternal Warrior", they still have
him, everything he ever did, and any story Valiant ever told or that they
might want to tell about Gilad.
Meanwhile, anyone using the term "Eternal Warrior" and not talking about Gilad
would be... quite lame.

Stop it. I'm sick and tired of this fanboy wannabe creator crap.
You want to help, IF (when) something is released, buy it. Otherwise, I would HOPE that any potential owner out there would have the BUSINESS SENSE to not run off like a fanboy holding out his *SQUEE* screaming "Mr. Shooter!!!! I just want an autograph on my pen1s!"
Please. You're better than that.

He signed it "Jim Shooter, creator of the VALIANT, Defiant and Broadway Universes. Also former EIC at Marvel. Best wishes to you and yours and continued --"
He ran out of room. He was using a silver Sharpie, BTW.

From today's MHC newsletter:
"My only other news for today is a hearty congratulations to my good friend, Jim Shooter, at the announcement during the Baltimore Comic-Con that he has been selected to be the writer of THE LEGION, for DC Comics. I would say "new" writer, but Jim's original LEGION stories were among my very favorites during my own comics collecting heyday, during the late 1960's and early 1970's. As most of you know, Jim later became editor-in-chief at Marvel Comics, where he led a complete revival of the company from 1979-1987. Jim then founded the Valiant, Defiant, and Broadway publishing houses, writing many stories, such as HARBINGER #1-#8, that are considered classics today. Having Jim Shooter back in the comics industry is a wonderful development! This time, I hope that he stays with us, forever!"
