Rozanski: Jim Shooter Returns?

Re: Rozanski: Jim Shooter Returns?
I'm gone for one and a half lousy days and miss this!?!?!?jcdenton wrote:Very interesting news from the latest Mile High Comics newsletter:
While I greatly enjoyed seeing the museum, I have to tell you that my two favorite moments were being able to see my friends Jim Shooter and also Helen Hamilton and her daughter Summer Hamilton. Seeing Jim was a particular delight, as our time together has been limited during the past couple of years. After stints at Marvel Comics (where he was Editor-in-Chief from 1978-1987), VALIANT (which he founded), Defiant (which he founded), and Broadway Comics (which he also founded) Jim disappeared from the comics industry. For nearly a decade now he's been working with a video game company in New York, writing scenarios for them and helping with their marketing. The incredibly exciting news that Jim brought to the museum opening, however, is that he's now being courted by several companies to rejoin the comics world. Given our decades of close friendship, Jim confided the details of these offers to me, and then asked me for my opinion as to which one he should most avidly pursue. Quite frankly, I couldn't pick one deal over another. They all sounded extremely promising, so I guess it's going to boil down to whom ever presents Jim with the best contract, the soonest. Suffice it to say, however, that I fully expect Jim Shooter to be back in the comics world very soon. That would be a wonderful development, as this industry could well benefit from once again having Jim Shooter's drive and talent.

I think it's a good thing!

It's just that some of you got your head, face, and tounge so far up the "new owners' " as.s that you can taste their food as their eating it.
Stop it. I'm sick and tired of this fanboy wannabe creator crap.
You want to help, IF (when) something is released, buy it. Otherwise, I would HOPE that any potential owner out there would have the BUSINESS SENSE to not run off like a fanboy holding out his *SQUEE* screaming "Mr. Shooter!!!! I just want an autograph on my pen1s!"
Please. You're better than that.

Dude. Seriously. Take a chill pill.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

He signed it "Jim Shooter, creator of the Valiant, Defiant and Broadway Universes. Also former EIC at Marvel. Best wishes to you and yours and continued --"
He ran out of room. He was using a silver Sharpie, BTW.

I'm not sure who or what you're talking about, but it seems ridiculously unnecessary.Unblessed wrote:It's just that some of you got your head, face, and tounge so far up the "new owners' " as.s that you can taste their food as their eating it.

As far as your earlier comment that Valiant Entertainment has none of the characters,
they have EVERY character that Valiant created.
They do not currently have Solar, Magnus, or Turok, but judging
from the last Magnus products seen (Simonson trade, ugly figurine),
I doubt that Magnus is a license that costs millions to obtain.
Solar and Turok belong to the same company, so it isn't unreasonable
to assume that they would LIKE to make money on their assets,
and SHOULD be examining the best ways to do so.
If VALIANTFANS.com isn't the place to be excited about the possibility of a return
of Valiant characters with an outside chance that Jim Shooter could be involved,
then I guess I created the wrong kind of site.

Have you ever seen those people that can write your name on a grain of rice? This was Jim Shooter's job before he got into comics.
