Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I'm sorry to hear that. Do they make a topical cream for that, or is it internal medicine?

Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?

I dunno... Deathmates are the herpes of the comic-book world - try as you might, you just can't seem to get rid of the dang things!

Aw, that's my reader copy anyways. It's a beater, it could "hang" beside that X-O Manowar on my wall and look better!

Any Secret Weapons issues worth my reading time?

I've always thought Harbinger #1 was a ripoff of DP7 #1 and have always wondered why Shooter didn't take more heat for that. I know he wrote DP7 too, but still...
I read the Wikipedia entry on DP7 and yep, he recycled it for Valiant. The main villain was similar to Harada except he was white!!!
BodaZoffa wrote:I thought Harbinger sucked, & Peter was a complete wuss...... *whew*

Been waiting to get that off my chest for a long time.
Thanks to the Internet, I've read the first 12 issues and yep, Pete's a wuss especially during some parts of Unity issues ( wanting to back out of the mission and later, lashing out after finding Kris' baby was Torque's) and in most of the series(Kris whacking Tsetse on the head while she was trying to make him fall asleep). The girls seemed to doing a slightly better job (yes, I'm a sick person to find it funny that Ax got his balls burned by Flamingo and then later, kneed by Kris-another wuss who has to have his dog do the fighting for him along w/ other Eggbreakers).

It might not be too much of a confession, but I liked the first issues of Secret Weapons and Dr. Mirage. I actually liked Dr. Mirage a lot... I got that Hero Illustrated magazine just for the nifty foil version of the Dr. Mirage cover. And I'll join with some others in saying that Harbinger wasn't ever really all that great. I liked HARDCorps much better.
Liked the first 10 issues, nice funny bits aside from the serious stories going on and Rico was one of those funny sidekick characters I sorta liked.

Also kudos to you, Knightt, leonmallet, rufusharley & dave for saying they liked H.A.R.D Corps. I have an old copy of issue#7 w/c I still have and didn't think much about it but, thanks to Internet, I read the first 18 issues and stories were ok to great although it was sad to read that things were going to get worse for them. Aside from superhero books, I'm fond of paramilitary units (e.g. Alien Legion, Team 7,etc,etc...) so that got me into them and also their backstory is intriguing but also sad too.

Tim Petty wrote:I would agree that Rai #1 is over-rated. I haven't quite got the animosity toward it that Unblessed does, but I don't like it very much.

It felt too forced. Too much crammed into so little space. If it had been a mini-series or somthing it would have been better I think.

Also, the world and space is a big place. It's not very convincing that all these character's futures would be so tightly knit together and everything would be so neat.

Aric blowing off Geoff's request was totally out of character.

Oh...and the whole "Armstrong walked off the panel and was never heard from again" is pretty lame. Same for the "Good Skin flew off the panel and was never seen again"

Other than that I liked it. Armorless Old Aric busting through the door and slicing up Harada was a huge shock and it's still powerful to read today.

The scene with Phil and Gayle was amazing.

I thought H.A.R.D Corps leaving earth was a really wierd and a really cool development....

which leads me to my own confession....

I liked Psi-Lords
There is nothing wrong with liking the Psi-Lords.

But isn't it OK that Pete's a wuss? Isn't that a flaw that you're likely to see in a 17 year old boy? Pete's team was thrown together without a plan as they're being chased by a multinational corporation...I've got no problems with him not knowing what to do in situations. It's realistic.

IMO, Harbinger was about telling the story, not liking the characters.

Ok . . . let's get real here.

I like Hard Corps a lot. The biggest mistake they made was killing off Superstar. It was so Obvious that his death just ended up being annoing to me.

His attitude and recklesness should have gotten someone else killed. He should have had to deal with the guilt of causing that death.

He was a great character wasted with an obvious and boring death.

Just my $.02

Hard Corps had more problems than just killing off Superstar. None of the characters really stood out and the whole series was just plain boring.
