Nope....these have taken about 2 months or so to get finished. I think that there will be one or 2 on ebay when everyone gets their's with the money going to greg though. So might still be able to pick one up. Of course you never know what the future holds.

Dino is in Hong Kong, relax, your probably not going to get a PM his flight left Saturday, besides the tracking info for the USPS sucks anyway!

The check was cashed.
He has not responded to pm's.
He stated he would send a PM with tracking #'s.
My number was not on the Scans.
Others have received their book.
There is not a "list" of who paid, who has what #'s, and who had their's sent.

This is completly disorganized.
Well it took 2 months because the books have been all over the place...How long did you think that it would take?
I am sure a lot of the money we sent was used to actually pay Bob Layton for the books. Plus he probably wanted to make sure that all checks cleared.
He is a busy guy. He does a lot of wheeling and dealing and I am sure that he has been getting a ton of PM/email from people wondering where there book is.
My number was not in the scans, but I did get a email with a tracking number. I should check that tracking number. I think that some of the people who wanted personalize books got theirs, then people on the west coast have probably gotten theirs. You will get yours I am sure...
There is not a list of who has what because some people dont want everyone to know what books they have. I think that after all is said and done I would like to maintain a list of where everything is from these VcVSS but if no one wants to give this info up then we will not have it.

A watched pot doesnt boil. I dont think that the blame for this is at all Dino's fault. There have been a lot of things that have happened with these books. Everyone will get theirs. I can hardly see Dino making off with your $34...

If there was time!!!! He was to go to the post office on saturday morning, with his flight scheduled to leave also that same day. He stated he would send PM's with trakcing #'s, but imagine 32 to have to send plus shipping 32 to everyone as well as getting ready to fly overseas!
UnknownTales wrote:My number was not on the Scans.
Should he be required to scan everyone of them!

He is not going to stiff anyone!

Everything is there, but he is not sharing that as some people wanted the number(s) they have keep to themselves and Dino. If you have paid, then why worry John. Dinesh is one of the many people I have dealt with on the boards and he ranks right up there as the best of the best! He takes care of everyone very well.
UnknownTales wrote:This is completly disorganized.
I doubt Dinesh planned the communication breakdown that happened! No one is to blame, we just need to learn from this so as not to happen again and be thankful Steve thought this up, Dino for buying the books and sharing with us instead of Aug002 or any other ebay nazi and Bob for parting with the books. Not to mention Bob, Jayjay, Greg and Dino for the time and effort that went into it!

But this isn't a business, it is fun collectible and a fan project, not a business venture!

i think you're taking it a little to serious. This is not a business, this is a message board for people who like a certain type of comic book.
Unlike a business he is not getting paid for following through, this is all done through good will.

What will make future events like this to not happen again is when instead of the person who goes through all those hoops to get this done for everyone else on the board isn't thanked, instead they are whined at about
this and that. Reading this thread, i sure wouldn't.

Honestly these VcVSS books will succeed with our without you. If you dont like the way that it was done. Dont bother with it. Simple enough. With over 300 members on this site I doubt that any future VcVSS books will have any problems selling out.

I respect the fact that Dino is not my employee and he is not really getting anything from this. Employees are accountable because you pay them. you expect something for your money. I doubt that he is getting anything from this besides possible a free VcVSS book.

Also this was the first attempt at getting something like this done. I am fairly impressed that it has gone this well...I am sure that the next one will be a little smoother. This is really nothing to get into a huff about. You will get your book,as will the rest of us, when the post man brings them.

How will posting a list of numbers with of the buyers blacked out prevent double selling and are you implying that happened here? I dont know what happened with the Bible...Want to fill me in? If the numbers are blacked out then they could be sold to different people. I doubt that there is enough money in this to even worry about doing it, but you asked.

The directions are fairly simple. Why would we need to know about it...he was really good about posting updates and saying where the books were and stuff like that. Do I really need to see an email that says "Please sign this and mail them back" I dont. As far as Bob Layton misreading something...hey there was a communication error...no biggie. Also there was problems in JJ's family...those things happen.

As far as getting someone else to manage this project, who? Please dont say greg...lord knows we ask enough of him...I really dont see the big deal here...oh well...I hope you get your book soon...

Anytime something is done for the first time there is going to "problems". There were also things that could not have been predicted, like JayJays's family issues that came up.

Hindsite is 20/20 after all. I am sure future projects will go smoother.

To John H. (Unknown Tales):

There was no favoritism or discrimination in the distribution of the 25 copies of the Valiant Continuity Bible. You got crappy with me for no reason in an email, so I decided "No soup for you...". Simple as that.

At the time I had the Bibles printed, I didn't take Paypal. You tried to pay through bidpay, but for some reason, they wouldn't process the Money Order. I asked for you to send a check or MO, but you didn't respond for a month, after you tried again to pay through bidpay. When they refused you again, you sent me a crappy letter, asking me- "What the hell are you trying to pull?" What was I trying to pull? Absolutely nothing.

Sorry if your attitude rubbed me the wrong way, but it did. You are too used to bossing people around. You might want to smoke a joint, and chill out, dude.:)

Anyway, I've been saving a copy of the VCB for 'betterthanezra' since May. He lost a finger, & couldn't pay right then. Well, after trying repeatedly to get him to send the payment, I give up. He hasn't been on the boards, & he hasn't responded to my emails. If you still would like the last copy, let me know. If you hate me already, & don't want to bother, I totally understand.

I'm not looking to start an arguement. You brought up the VCB, & I felt the need to explain the situation, as you were insinuating something that didn't happen.---Steve G

Hi guys, why don't we just wait for dino on this before we all jump to conclusions on what is going on with the books and who has received what. He has gone to HK as has been stated before and we really have no idea what kind of internet access he has there and so forth. I also pretty sure that dino is probably barely getting a free book for himself out of this deal, and in reality, this whole affair probably cost him money with all the extra shipping that had to be done.

Give the guy a chance and I am sure he will make things right in the end.

phew...just got done reading all the new posts on this thread. First off the 1st VcVSS is a fan project not a business. Second, I did make a number of mistakes in the organization of this project. I should have been more clear in my emails to Bob, I should have had a list of emails and kept everyone up to date that way etc.

Unknown, sorry man I dont think I had time to post yours before my flight on Saturday. I will be back around the 25th of August and will get the rest of the books sent out the day I get back. If you want a refund I will provide one, if you want to sell your copy to someone else let me know and I can send it to them instead. There was no favouritism involved in the way the books were sent out. It was really just the way I pulled them out of the box.

No one made any money of these books. Jayjay and Bob both signed for free. Bob agreed to as part of the sale and Jayjay did because she is just cool that way. With the extra shipping I'm down about $60 with these books but I did fix so I got a free copy:)

I am 100% certain that the next VcVSS will go much more smoothly and the one after that will be even better etc. Thanks wrunow, dbest4u, sound, steve, x-o, arch, knightt, dawg and eric for answering questions and sticking up for me while I was gone. I just bought a new computer for my parents so I'll be online pretty often now to answer questions.

I'm sorry, but it is his fault. He was in charge of the project. If he felt he had a vacation or other distractions, then he should have let another person manage the project. I run a business. If one of my employees said that the will do some thing, I hold them accountable. They complete that task, or I fire them. Its bad customer service to not follow thru. If these projects want to succeed in the future, they need a good reputation.
I certainly may not know the whole story here. However, it seems that a board member offered his personal time to get a bunch of Magnus #0's signed for other board members. I assume that he didn't start this "project" to make a profit. It also seems that there were some problems that were mostly (if not completely) out of his control. If he didn't start this "project" to make a profit, then cut the guy some (a lot) of slack. He was doing everyone a favor. How much of his personal time do you think he has wrapped up in this favor anyway? My opinion...if you want to *SQUEE* about poor customer service on this "project", then write the guy a check for the time he spent working on it. If I'm paying for a service and it's slow...I'll *SQUEE*. If I'm getting a favor done...I'll shut up and deal with it.

I was going to filet Unknown for his over the top, totally out of line comments regarding this FAN PROJECT and FAVOR to US by DINO (who could have made a HELL of a lot of MONEY just SELLING these...and who bent over BACKWARDS to make this happen....FOR FREE....)

But you said it all here, TLC, so I won't go into it.

Totally out of line, Unknown. Totally...out...of...line. You have a problem with someone, you deal with it in PRIVATE FIRST...you don't broadcast it on a public board for everyone to see.

You SCREAMED at others for 'fighting' when you were TOLD UPFRONT to ignore it, and you have the BALLS to *SQUEE* about this FAN PROJECT that Dino went OUT OF HIS WAY to GIVE to US?

Please.

Just go hide your face in shame.

Better yet, give me your Paypal/address and I'll be HAPPY to buy you out of this FAN PROJECT. That way, you'll have NOTHING to whine about.

How embarrasing for you.

And I didn't even COMMENT on Layton's screw up. Well...I guess I just did.

UnknownTales wrote:A. its not a fan project, he charged money.
Selling items AT COST and doing all the labor FOR FREE is NOT...repeat NOT...'charging money'. I'm sure even you can understand this VERY SIMPLE concept.

b. He aploigized for not sending the book and offered to make it right.

c. I offered suggestions to help it go smother for next time.[/quote]

...and did it in such a way as to make yourself look like an absolute jerk. Does anyone but you dispute this?
d. You are a hipocrite; you show it with your false arguement with the other board member and you show it now. You said if you have a problem with someone to PM them. Then you flame your problem with me on this thread. GROW UP CHILD AND READ YOUR OWN OWN WORDS.
I'm sorry...please point out to me where I have taken someone to task IN PUBLIC about this FAN PROJECT...? Please...because THAT is what would make me a hYpocrite..you know, whining about an AT COST FAN PROJECT, especially done for the members of this board.

Do you KNOW what the word 'hYpocrite' means....?

False 'arguement'? Um...please, what is a 'false arguement (sic)'?

Consider some facts, 'UT':

1. The COST of this project was ONLY to cover the COST to Dino. He didn't MAKE any money on this. and, IN FACT, LOST MONEY. I'm not sure WHAT part of this escapes you, but IN THE REAL WORLD...you know, the world the REST of us live in...you don't 'get work for free'. All the work, all the effort, all the time put into this...FREE. What part of that don't you get?

Or...do YOU do things FOR FREE in your 'business'? Do YOU work for free? Do you ask your 'employees' to work for free? Do you sell things AT COST without charging for your labor?

Because THAT is EXACTLY...pay attention here...EXACTLY what Dino DID.

2. He apologized diplomatically, because you got your panties in a wad, because he's a nicer guy than I. He didn't apologize because you DESERVED an apology. You CERTAINLY do not, and, in fact, you owe DINO an apology. He did it because he's a nice guy.

So...'grow up child and read your own words'...?

Please.

Just be ashamed for yourself.

We all are.

You are out of line; you know it...everyone reading this knows it....and they know it because not a single person came to your defense, and, in fact, several people told you...albeit more diplomatically than I...that you are totally out of line.

End of story.
I will not respond to you after this post becuase I am an adult and you are a child.
Now, see, THIS...THIS is an excellent example of hypocrisy. I wrote to you a PM to ask why you felt it was necessary to scream at people when they've asked you to ignore them....your response...?

'F**K YOU'

Only, ya know, without the stars.

Now....please explain to me how this is an 'adult' response...? Please...tell me that this is how 'adults' are supposed to respond?

It's the FACTS that do you in, Unknown Tales, not the emotionalism you display. FACTS, my friend. They do you in every time.
I thanked Dino for the update, it ended there. But you have to drag your child like behavior into it.
You made an *SQUEE* of yourself in public, and needed to be called out on it.

Simple.

If *I* make an *SQUEE* of myself in public by speaking TOTALLY out of line to someone who has done NOTHING to deserve it, and, in fact, has gone OUT OF HIS WAY and ABOVE AND BEYOND to make this happen....then, BY ALL MEANS....PLEASE...call me out on it.
Ps. Rugrats is showing on Nick in a few minutes, so ask your mommie to fill your sippy cup with juicy juice and sit real close to the tv to see chuckie!
Facts, unknown tales. The facts do you in. You were totally out of line, in public, and you deserved to be called on it, in public. You were absolutely wrong, and you needed to be told that.

No emotionalism. No screaming. No typing every word in caps. No multiple exclamation points.

Just plain, simple facts.

I urge you not to send this thread away from its title and fill it with personal comments.
I'm pleased to see you removed the denigrating comments at the end of your post, and rethought the 'personal comments', but you made them anyways, which can be seen up above.

This isn't personal, Unknown Tales. You made a public...and totally out of line...attack on someone who was just trying to do us all a favor.

And that's just not acceptable.

When you apologize to Dino, we'll consider the matter dropped.
