Re: Oversized Hardcover For Local Comic Shop
I'm friends with Gabe at Dreamstrands, and he is ordering one for me. I can get multiples if anyone is interested (no idea on price). However, I'm sure a PM to someone on this chain will yield a similar result.

Sorry about that, I don't know why I initially thought that at all! Must have gotten you confused with someone else...jeremycoe wrote:I do not and have never lived in Seattle or the PNW. I'd check with them.TheeBaldMoose wrote:jeremycoe, have you found anyone in the area that is participating (providing you are still living in Seattle)? I wonder if it'll be $25 like the previous 4-issue deluxe editions, or more since the bigger HCs were raised to $50. Or maybe this will be more because of the special nature of this release.

There's a store locator on the LCSD website. It will be updated on Sept 1.TheeBaldMoose wrote:jeremycoe, have you found anyone in the area that is participating (providing you are still living in Seattle)? So, I can not do what I really want to do, which is tell ALL OF YOU, Hey go ahead and pre-order with us.Ibero wrote: Sooo, they have to pay 29, and then they would be able to order the hc, or is just 29 for the hardcover?
What I CAN do is tell you to PM me and we can discuss arrangements if you want to make sure you get that HC.![]()

Re: Oversized Hardcover For Local Comic Shop

I consider myself a Valiant super fan, obviously anyone who signs up here is. Love the comics and the stories. But I can't be bothered with jumping through hoops to get some of their products. I guess it's a cheap way for them as a publisher to get an article written up about them, guaranteed news. I don't care about movies or games, just really want the comics without having to go out of my way to find a local shop that not only participates but is also going to carry the specific item in question. Now they're doing coupons for zero issues, exclusive chase comics, bundled comics. For chrissakes do they not believe that the quality of the books will sell on their own without having to resort to gimmicks that strong-arm the consumer into paying more or having to resort to the aftermarket?
If I can't just log into a site to buy their product, me a Valiant super fan, then what do they hope to get out of this? I guess I'll just get the cheap trade and save myself some money that I will use to buy another company's product.

I'm not interested in the hunt. I'm a forty year old man who'd rather spend his free time reading books not obsessively hunting for them.

I'm a 40+ year old man that still enjoys the hunt! I too am a super fan, like you, but for me it's part of the chase! I've driven all over the great State of Washington to find comic book stores that may or may not have little hidden gems! Just a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine and I freed a Quantum and Woody #1 1:50 GOAT QR book as well as a 1:20. Not massive, but the hunt was so worth it (and the price!).kinggirlfriend wrote:![]()

I don't mind finding a few places here and tracking down one of these books, but I respect your decision. I get that some don't want to track this down, that it's a bit of a hassle, but I love it!

Re: Oversized Hardcover For Local Comic Shop
I am trying to figure this out. This is not new product, it's been out in singles, and will release in TPB a week or two later. This is a special item put out for a SPECIAL DAY that is organized to promote local stores who are the backbone of this industry. It's just different packaging, you can get the books in 3-4 different ways and be equally happy. ALSO, from past history, most of the items offered during LCSD are then READILY AVAILABLE everywhere. VEI had 2 books last year (singles) and nobody is paying 100s of dollars for them (or any dollars to be honest, I still have them).kinggirlfriend wrote:![]()

As far as coupons, that's a Valiant tradition, they did it in the 90s, for the same book (Harbinger). this was a homage marketing at its best. It had nothing to do with movies, or making awareness.
Also, ALL big publishers participate in this, it's not a VEI Thing.

Re: Oversized Hardcover For Local Comic Shop
Valiant surely does a lot of weird marketing but this isn't even in their Top 10. Most publishers will offer some exclusive material for the LCSD. Secret Weapons has been a very successful mini-series and will be concluded just in time. It seems to be the perfect item for this event.kinggirlfriend wrote:![]()

Anyway, I bet there will be another Secret Weapons Dlx Ed HC later on, too. Most likely with a different cover then.

Did anyone have trouble acquiring books from last year's LCSD? Nothing seemed to be that hard to get.

Okay..... And then I saw this thread too and I understand who to contact to possibly purchase one if I haven't waited too long. But I still don't see a price point....?
