Earlier I said I was done with Valiant - too harshly and over-reactive as I dig Divinity and Ninjak and am liking Britannia (tho I wish it went longer than 4 issues - the current mini feels like it needs 5 or 6 to tie everything up).grendeljd wrote:Looks like you were bang on with your speculation!jeremycoe wrote:Valiant's solicitations for February should be released tomorrow. Anyone thinking we might be surprised? Right now I am expecting the following:
A&A #12
Ninjak #24
Faith #8
Generation Zero #7
Savage #4
Harbinger: Renegade #4
Divinity III: Stalinverse #3
Divinity III: Shadowman
Will we see a new Bloodshot series, or possibly a continuation of Reborn? Maybe something else unexpected?
I'll be honest, I'm not feeling overly enthusiastic about half of these titles right now.
Hopefully Dinesh puts Bloodhsot fans at ease with a new series on the way (minus a lengthy delay)
What you're feeling is the definition of what Valiant can be expanding. We took the opportunity 2016 presented to build new corners for the universe (Divinity, Britannia, Savage, Faith, Generation Zero etc). To do that we had to put the big toys away for a bit. Behind the scenes, we've been using the time to quietly build what we think will be their best runs yet (made possible by the addition of all the new characters and ideas we put on the board this year...can't say too much though about this yet). Harbinger Renegade is the first part of that but things really kick off in March. Can't wait for everyone to see what we're cooking up and get as excited as I've been these last few months! Sorry to see you take a break. Totally understand. You're going to miss some great stories.

Great news, or soon-to-be-news. Can't wait! Glad to see that VEI themselves saw 2016 as a year that was a bit far from the previous and, well, "different".
Bring back the big toys!

I am 100% behind this strategy. I like new stuff.dino wrote:What you're feeling is the definition of what Valiant can be expanding. Re: February 2017 Solicitations
this was valiant's own little "dc you"/"all new all different" kind of year. and next year's gonna be the valiant rebirth.
and yeah, faith feels definitely quite un-valiant in that it's rather bland and conventional and forgettable. she is great when part of a team, but on hew own: boring. but as long as it sells, great for vei.
BUT i really don't get why gen zero doesn't click with people. i think it's the best thing van lente has written for vei, yet. and britannica is superb, too.
2016 was a good valiant year, imo. and i really hope they have some great writers doing the heavy hitters next year and everything'll be good!
(btw, is rai cancelled...? hope not, enjoyed the last arc very much)

Re: February 2017 Solicitations
I think we need to see XO, Bloodshot and Shadowman to join Harbinger and Ninjak as staple series. 5 ongoings with 3-5 minis at any given time.
And y'all know I'm ready for Secret Weapons!

Divinity & Britannia are awesome... and I really hope Britannia will get another mini just like Div.
