No way he's stable. He fits in with the rest of us, so he has to be pretty unstable.

Thank you Bruce, Jesse, Jay, everyone. I'm on a family vacation. Will be back next Tuesday. I'll get back to all of you next week. Some books are spoken for at this point, others are being sold at a convention by a friend, some will end up on eBay, MOST will likely be listed here. Those of you who have shown interest in specific books via IM, I'll connect with individually. Many I have multiples of. There are many I have to wait on CGC for. If I show any preference on HTF singles, it will be out of reciprocation for people that have helped me previously, returning the favor.

Thank you all. And again, I'm not liquidating, and then done. VEI is the now of Valiant, but like Greg reflects every time we log in, there's a past, present, and future. I'll likely always be a fan of the past and future.

Would be poor taste to throw people under the bus on a fan site. Also, with a collection like this, there will be a question as to why he is selling. If I sold my entire collection, I'm sure people would be thinking I might know something they don't, like VEI is going under or the movie plans are scrapped, etc. It's a delicate balance.

I suspect your someone who has wronged me and others in the passed. who likes to hide behind fake profile names very manipulative and gets other people to defend him or defends himself with fake profile names.
I won't support this fishy cloak and danger secrets and tomfoolery. Just sell your comics don't drama the situation. And speaking of valiants doom and gloom really bothers me. For years we wanted Valiant back and if people pull support then we will be back in the void writing fan stories and picking apart what's not anymore. Do we want a dead universe all thoes haters being proven right? Valiant still has great comics and stories. To give up on them compleatly is saying you enjoyed thoes years with no comics and that's sad to me. I have very much enjoyed these days of valiant.

Here's my two cents for what it's worth. Word of mouth is the most effective form of marketing. Especially when it comes to negative press. If my family members or network of friends had an issue with a product or someone representing a business and explained what occurred, more than likely I'm going to stay away from that product or person. Whether fair or unfair, it's a preconceived notion or self-fulfilling prophecy, and now the thought is implanted. Try not to think about the pink elephant I just mentioned, right? Words have power. My experience with VEI representatives has been nothing short of gracious and stellar! As much as I love this company and it's products, now the question is implanted for me: "What the hell happened between a VEI rep and a once loyal, paying customer/fan that made him turn away in disgust?" (From what I can understand through the somewhat personal, vague reasons in previous posts) If I was a concerned VEI rep, as I would truly believe they would be, or a previous friend/acquaintance of Eschnit (I'm sure he's a stand-up guy), I'd just ask that before you pull that fire-sale trigger - 1. Do you think what was said/done fully represents the company or just something stupid said by an employee? 2. Do you think it's unforgivable, or beyond repairing? 3. Did you approach the individual re: their actions and ask for an apology? 4. Every company I've worked for has had an open-door policy and a responsive HR...did you attempt to contact other/neutral sources re: your encounter? Would you be concerned not being able to do this in an anonymous manner, or would it matter? 5. If you think about this situation in a third-person manner, would this be jacked-up enough where you'd think "Yeah, I think someone at VEI should really know what happened and should action on this" (or perhaps you tried?) 6. Any concerned business owner/rep would probably love to hear you and your story and try to make amends...and would engage that employee for any corrective actions to prevent any future occurrence. I know Dino spends some time here, I'm sure (would like to believe) he'd like to hear and perhaps resolve this...rather than see a [former] dedicated, paying, fan walk away.

I'm in no way associated to VEI and I don't represent them in any capacity. I'm just a long-time fan, who's trolled previously through the years and now posting on a somewhat regular basis with VF and would just hate to see someone walk away with a bad taste in their mouth. What other company has this range of talent and producing such fantastic stories right now? Dude, War-Mother, alone! Amiright? Just know that there's a guy out there in your corner that would sit down with ya and have some beers and feels sorry to hear about all of this.

My problem starts with the title. "VEI dump mode shortly, leadership turned me off, your gain.."

Nobody does that if they just want to sell books. Sorry. "Leadership turned me off" in a title in BUY/SELL. THat's someone who's itching to make stuff happen. I waited a long time to say anything. Eric has bought from me also, and I always value Bruce's opinion very much, but there was a very tactless way to start this conversation. If you struggled with yourself and then decided to be quiet, BE QUIET, not start a thread with DUMPING BECAUSE VEI LEADERSHIP sucks. Because, honestly, I am in a super unique situation where I know MOST of not ALL of the major publishers in comics today. Most of these guys are friends of mine. And I don't know any other publisher management in this industry that is so passionate and truly fans of their own product as the VEI guys.

I am not saying there is not a possibility of a situation where Eric was wronged by someone at VEI or someone loosely connected to VEI. Or that he does not know the whole story and feels something was done wrong to him. That's possible. I have had many interactions with VEI and not all of them were pleasant. It's business and you are not always going to like everything, but what you need to understand is this: there is ALWAYS a bigger picture, and it's not about you.

I don't care to know what happened. I asked a couple of people at VEI and they have no clue. My issue is the first sentence, the title of the post. It's instigating.

Assume for a second that my reasons are entirely legitimate. That puts me in a tough spot. I handled this the best way I know how. My preference at this point is to leave my reasons alone. No one has been thrown under the bus, and I'll keep it that way. Suggesting I need to explain myself is a you thing, not a me thing. I respect most of you who are giving me a hard time in one way or another, I might even do the same. I'd just ask for all parties involved, to leave it alone. If you're interested in VEI, I don't want to have any effect on that interest. My interest in Valiant was never exclusively VEI, and I won't be a discontent as other things are discussed. I appreciate the interest in the books and the support, and I do respect the curiosity, or even having their back. This is a personal thing. It doesn't take away from some of the great work, talent, people, books there. It's simply one guy walking away for his own reasons, nothing more. I'm not sure what else to say. The poster who keeps bringing Valiant talent to the table for us to connect with and the sit down with Jim Shooter which can be found on YouTube, many of us are really grateful. Thank you. Greg, this site is wonderful, you don't get thanked enough probably. I appreciate all of the fans with like interest. My intent was not to create so much of a stir.

Still, he could've just put stuff up for sale. Instead, he says he'll put stuff up for sale later, and then talks about WHY he's selling, but pats himself on the back for not being petty enough to talk about it in detail.

This isn't a sale post. It's barely a presale advertisement. It's a self serving opportunity to say he's mad at vei, while also claiming to be a hero for not airing dirty laundry publicly.

If you weren't petty, and didn't want to stir anything up, you'd have listed your damn books for sale, and not bothered trying to complain... This was an attention seeking post, and barely anything more.

I'm not planning on responding to any more of this, but this once. I understand your perspective. You don't have to respect my choice in how I handled this. The value of the books I'm unloading is substantial, as is the quantity, and I recognize when someone unloads a fair amount it disrupts the natural market some, so I felt the need to address it. If I said nothing it would have begged even more questions than I'm getting now. Also, this is not some sueprficial aggravation. A big part of me wants to say a lot more because I'm not frustrated or disappointed, call it more angry and screwed over. So yeah, I wanted to at least say something. You don't know what happened, so you can assume it was marginal, but I think it's doubtful many people would.

I made the best choice that I could come up with. Maybe it was the wrong one. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

PS the glorification of certain people where I think it's unwarranted is something someone should address. Seems the whole community has some folks on a pedestal in a public forum, and yet I know for a fact I'm not the only one who feels the way I do. Mine just happens to be my own individual case. In fact, I know the list is really long. In a small community, that represents a big part, and that's just those I know of. A counterbalance seems warranted. The cult following is totally out of whack to me. I was new here once, and influenced by the seemingly universal opinion, which is so far from universal it's not even funny. And yet anyone new here would never know. A balanced perspective is warranted and you can dismiss what I have to say entirely if you choose to. That doesn't make it wrong.
