I won't go into detail. I'd rather keep it to myself. But I want to be honest in my explanation. I love VH1, the Valiant characters, the books, the artists at VEI. I simply have an issue with the integrity of certain parties there, that make me feel compelled to liquidate. Again, I'm not going to explain. But when I dump some serious books all at once, I want you to know why. What it comes down to is I don't feel good about possessing any VEI book. Again, hopefully this will be an opportunity for many of you.

I recognize this post is all flash and no substance. Just whining with no explanation = no meat on the bone. Then to say, I'm gonna dump books but not offer any specifics of when, what, or how much is also annoying. So sorry about that. Suffice it to say, my reason doesn't need to matter. The books will be just about all high ratio variants, multiples of many and I will post the offerings between the next week and a couple months, because I need to account for them all and am awaiting some from CGC.

Books included will be 3 EW 5 Macks, 4 The Valiant 4 Francavillas, 11 Shadowman Golds, 2 Harbinger 8 Lemires, 3 EW 1 Zirchers Shadowman 13 Davis, bunches and bunches of golds, 2 Unity 5 1:100s, 2 Unity 3 1:100s, 2 Unity 2 1:100s, bunches of Harbinger Wars 1:50s, bunches of #1s the highest ratio variants, XO 15 error, etc, etc.

I will do it properly or as best I can. And I've received all of your PMs, will respond. I'm at work, and my inbox here is full. I appreciate the interest. Many of you I've worked with before. Please understand, I think it best to not get into detail on my experience. Everyone's experience is personal to them. I don't want to paint with a broad stroke. There's one party I will respond to with some information because they were directly involved. For the most part, for the rest of you, I feel like though I'd like to have a discussion and share, maybe gain some different insight/perspective and share mine, the greater good is probably to let it go and not do any of that. He said, she said, shouldn't be necessary or a defense. It's as simple as me not having a good taste in my mouth about VEI and divesting accordingly. I'll keep you all posted here. It is possible that I can inventory and sell a large batch to individuals. That is how I acquired much of what I have.

This facepalm Reminds me of someone I once knew who had alot of problems with Valiant, fans and writers. The guy thought him self a king but turned out he just forgot to take his meds.

In my opinion, this is not funny. Whatever the circumstances behind this decision, it's not up to us to judge or belittle. I suggest we instead channel energy towards supporting anyone who is considering a drastic change in a hobby that, as we all more or less understand, can become a little overwhelming. More compassion is required here, I think!

I see your point gastaxx, but I also see NPs perspective.

It would be foolish to post on a Valiant Fans site, ...... "Valiant employees did me wrong, now I'm selling all my cool books, so buy them, I'm out!", and not expect some kind of response.

The moment someone tells me "I'm not going to tell you _____________" there is a big part of me that wants to know. I guess its a character flaw.

For me,

1) Bummer a Valiant fan is not a fan anymore,
2) Cool Valiant fans have a chance to get some HTF books

ALL of my interactions with the VEI dudes has been a true joy, and honestly, just about the BEST part of my comic experience these last 7ish years. So that's my perspective. The OP has a different view. Would I like to know what happened?

Of course.

But, I'm not going to PM him to ask him, but I'd for sure read it if he posted.

I have my reasons. I hope you can respect that. I'm still a Valiant fan. I probably will be around just as much, and collect just as much Valiant. Perhaps if I'm looking to pour $1000 into books, I'll buy a high grade slabbed Doctor Solar (not Valiant, VEI or VH1) or Harby #1 instead of a handful of 1:50 variants from VEI. I'm still a big fan of the characters I grew up with from Jim Shooter and company. I still value this community, the camaraderie, and have made a couple of good friends. I appreciate many of the artists, Jeff Lemire, Lewis LaRosa, David Mack, Matt Kindt, Joshua Dysart, Patrick Zircher. David Baron is a really nice talented guy. There's a lot to like about output from VEI. But you answered your own question. I'll leave it at that.

While VH1 is the main focal point of my collecting, I have no serious issues with the VEI material. I love Bloodshot, Ninjak, and Eternal Warrior, but would gladly pay DCBS to not send me any Faith and A&A books in the monthly bundle. That said, I support VEI because it is the feel good thing for me at this point in my collecting life, and they are producing great books that soar largely above the slop that DC & Marvel are pushing.

It certainly is NOT a "marketing ploy" to sell books. facepalm

I have worked with Eric for months now helping him add to this collection of HTF, low print run variants. He was as passionate about his VEI collection as anyone I've seen. Given that personal experience with him, I know that something had to dramatically happen to change his interest/perspective. So it has to be nothing more than what he said: He loved VEI; he no longer does, and that is all he cares to share about it. Period. While we may be curious about details, that is what he has given as a straightforward reason as to why he is releasing this set of books and we should accept it as nothing more or less. The end result is that soon there will be an opportunity to obtain many key books which many fans have been anxious to acquire and some of which appear very infrequently. While it is sad he is leaving, it appears that he respects the members of this community enough to offer these books here to people who still are enthusiastic VEI collectors and that will benefit many members here and their respective collections.

I can personally tell you that Eric is a stand up guy who has been diligent in obtaining the best copies possible of these books and whoever purchases these from him will be more than pleased with their acquisition. If you are interested in books he's selling, touch base with him. Ask any questions you want about the specific book you're interested in. He'll tell you exactly what you'll be getting. :thumb:

Just wanted to try and put this in perspective so that he can be successful with his sale of these books he no longer wants, and so that people would have a comfort level purchasing books from this unique collection of HTF VEI variants.

I have communicated with Eric back and forth since he first joined VF. He is a stable, intelligent, and overall good guy.

Since joining VF he has made some incredible deals for books that most would like to own. His reasons, much like anyone's reasons, are his own for this move, and to be honest, I suspect the very fact that he is NOT telling the community his reasons, is an indication that he is already made up his mind as to the best course of action in handling whatever issue(s) that might exist. He is NOT throwing anyone under the bus per se, which is commendable in many ways.

I respect that, and much like Bruce said, encourage people to communicate with Eric directly with full confidence that he will sell you an honest product. Eric is still a great guy, and will still be around. Use this opportunity to make a win/win for yourself and Eric. :thumb:
