Haha, you know I had similar thoughts!

In other news, Dinesh confirmed I am way off on who I thought War Mother is in BoD. I was so certain!!

Cool. Thanks for the info! :high-five:

Obviously she has gone through some major character re-design since that BoD cameo.

Agreed. He also said they would eventually explain how she arrived in that scene in BoD.

I feel like that scene is taking place in the faraway - where time is not absolute

So characters from different time periods will gather to face off against anti-geomancer

This might be the scene for a proper Unity crossover that will pay proper homage to the original

Not that excited by this to be honest :?

We've already got Bloodshot doing the 'surviving in the apocalyptic future' thing, and the idea of a 'sentient sniper rifle' sounds bloody stupid tbh, but that's just me. I'll give it a read when it hits the shelf and see what I think of it then, give it a fair shot (pun intended).

War Mother isn’t just a new character, she’s Valiant’s next great heavy hitter.

Sounds like the new Magnus, Robot Fighter. Someone FVL knows a little about having wrote the most recent incarnation at dynamite.

So her first appearance is a cameo in Book of Death #1? If she is a hit, what issue will the collectors snatch up? BOD #1 or War Mother #1?

And, for what it's worth, I think this looks great! I love seeing Valiant develop new characters for their universe.

Oh, and the David Mack cover looks sweet! I hope it's a 1:50 or 1:100 so it's super collectible! :-)

I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up again before her one-shot.

Me too, I'd like to have this and the Eternal Warrior #5, in 9.8's :D

I'd guess on War Mother #1, based on her 'appearance' in BOD#1 being tenuous at best, and this comic being a one-shot doesn't give collectors much other option as to what to speculate on :?

The one-shot will have to be a success before the character's even considered for an ongoing. I expect it's more likely that she'll pop up again in some other character's ongoing title for a few issues first.

ANOTHER possibility is this:

I think the pic is showing Gilad with his daughter, but I forget her name. I really hope War Mother is a new character and not a redo of War Monger. That character got on my nerves and that story arc was one of my least favorite after Dead Drop.

The DPS featuring all the first appearances was BoD #1.

The image featuring Gilad and his daughter Xaran was an unpublished cover for Eternal Warrior #7 which was later changed to show Gilad in 4001 A.D. with his granddaughter (who was pictured as a child in the final art).
