How AC was able to reprint them after the sell, I don't know. Maybe they flew under the radar? Payed licensing money to Marvel? Was their a law suit we didn't hear about? I suppose Marvel could've sold the rights or somehow not gotten them when they bought Malibu, but I doubt it.

Simple. AC ...

Because they were in public domain before Malibu got their hands on them. (See link I provided in my post)

Looking as some of the fine print, it seems that Malibu owned the copyright to this particular version of the characters. However, the original versions, as well as versions that are diffrent ...

Xombie from Milestone Media.

A fairly obscure title even in it's heyday, it featured some of the best, most imaginative writing and characterisation I've seen in a comic book. The weirdness alone deserves a look.

The story focuses on misadventures of David Kim, a scientist who wound up injected ...

I just remembered, since Malibu published them does that Marvel now owns these characters?

I don't think so. The Protectors are based of Centaur Publications characters, which are now public domain. Of course, it could be the Marvel owns the copyright to this particular version of the characters ...

I think Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) should take over for Batman eventually. Nightwing already established his own identity. Ditto Robin. Besides, I think that Cassandra and Bruce have alot more in common, in terms of their personalities, experience and outlook on the world, then any of Batman's ...

Read all four trades (I'm pretty sure there were four, not three) and loved the story. However...

The replacement by Azrael was an attempt by DC to revitalize the Batman comic by injecting a more cutting edge techno-bats with a more vicious attitude. Of course, I'm assuming they weren't allowed to ...

I was an avid CrossGen supporter/buyer before it collapsed. Nowadays, I mostly buy titles from Oni Press, with occasional forays into Marvel, Wildstorm, Dark Horse, ComicOne and Tokyopop titles. I also buy lots of "quarter bin" comics from companies that were defunct before I started collecting ...

According to the early issues of the Solar , Harbingers emerged after Phil Seleski recreated his universe from scratch. Although he mostly managed to put it back together the way it was, there were a few diffrences, one of which was that suddenly, certain human beings had psionic abilities. This ...

Most of these universes were speedshots, if I may use the metaphor, designed to hit the ground fast and then explode. Aside from DC's Vertigo line, Valiant was something of an oasis in the creative wasteland that was the 1990s.

Milestone's "Dakotaverse" and Defiant Universe were pretty good, too ...

Personally, I would to see a reboot of the original Valiant Universe, with the rules that defined it at the very beginning intact. The pre-Unity stories would stay simular, but not quite identical, to the originals. After Unity, it can deviate further. I think that there is no reason that, somewhere ...

The Valiant Universe wasn't really built around them (continuity wise atleast).

Oh really?

Let's forget for a second that Solar created Valiant Universe (well, re-created it from scraps of his original universe, but that's besides the point). That part is easy enough to ignore.

However ...
